Song Inspo: Can I Get Your 7's x B5 (deep cut on youtube) or What it Do x B5
A/N: I had to take y'all back to where writing really started for me, In my head with honestly my first boy band that I was consciously aware of at the time. He started my love for older men, and there aren't enough people talking about them like they should. Listen, B5 would've been worldwide if they were signed to a label that cared, any who, Enjoy my first love.
Dasia rolled her eyes as she slid into the booth at The Corner Lounge, a spot she frequented for the vibe and not the crowd. Tonight was loud and obnoxious, and she was in no mood to deal with anyone who wasn’t up to her standards. The bass from the DJ’s set vibrated through her bones as she took a long sip from her mojito, already signaling for the waitress to bring another when they could. The ice clinked against the glass, a soft contrast to the chaos of the evening.
Across the room, Dustin leaned against the bar, his gaze scanning the room with a cool detachment. He wasn't one for loud crowds or flashy entrances himself, but a few friends convinced him to come out after his concert ended.. His style was understated but powerful. He made you feel like the only person in the room without uttering a single word. Tonight, his focus was locked on Dasia. He spotted her the moment she walked in. He’s seen her a few times before with her usual group of friends, this time she was alone. Dustin scanned over her appearance; a pink mini dress that clung to her body in all the right places, a pair of matching strappy heels adorned her feet where the toes were painted a French tip white. He couldn’t see her face too clearly from where he sat due to the moving bodies around him, but he knew she was done up in a natural beat. Dustin couldn’t help but stare even as his drink was placed in front of him.
Dasia knew who he was. It was hard not to when he and his brothers were No. 1 on 106 & Park for the past few weeks and her little sisters were obsessed with the group to the point she accompanied them to a few of their concerts. She had to admit he was a good-looking man. His olive toned skin made the tattoos on his arm pop out, the platinum blonde, almost white hair suited him. The subtle facial hair was just enough to make him look grown and sexy without washing him out. The look suited him perfectly. Dasia caught his gaze and smirked, her eyes glinting with a mix of challenge and amusement.
Dustin didn’t flinch; he merely raised his glass slightly in her direction before turning back to the bar. She knew he wasn’t just another guy trying to get her attention. He had a presence that demanded respect, and she couldn’t help but feel intrigued.
When the DJ threw on a track with a heavy beat, Dasia found herself swaying to the rhythm. She was about to get up and make her way to the dance floor when she felt a presence beside her. She glanced up to find Dustin standing there, his eyes meeting hers with a soft, knowing smile.
“Hey,” he said, his voice smooth and calm, almost drowned out by the music but still cutting through.
Dasia raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a smirk. “What’s up?”
“You know,” Dustin said, leaning in just a bit closer, “I’ve been watchin’ you from the bar, and I gotta say, you’ve got this vibe about you. Like, you don’t play games.”
Dasia’s laughter was a rich, throaty sound that seemed to catch everyone’s attention. “Is that so? And what makes you think you’re the one to play the game with me?”
“It ain’t about playin’ games.” Dustin’s eyes softened, but his expression stayed neutral. “We can play the game if you want to.” Neither Dustin or Dasia was looking for something too serious, it was all fun, especially knowing how sought after he was to the female audience.
She tilted her head, studying him. “You think you got what it takes to handle me?”
Dustin shrugged, a slow grin spreading across his face. “I’m not here to handle you. I’m here to see if you’re willin’ to give me a chance.”
Dasia shook her head, her amusement evident. “You think you’re special or somethin’?”
“Nah,” Dustin said, his gaze steady. “I just know what I want, and I’m not afraid to go after it.”
The music changed to a slower beat, and Dustin took a step closer, his body moving with a natural rhythm. Dasia’s gaze dropped to his hand, which was now extended towards her.
“You gonna dance with me or what?” he asked, his tone easy but firm.
Dasia looked at his hand, then back up at his face. “You really think you can impress me just by askin’?”
Dustin’s smile widened, and he shook his head. “You would’ve said no by now if you didn’t want to.”
For a moment, Dasia hesitated. She was used to men who tried too hard, who needed to flex their muscles to get her attention. Dustin was different—his confidence was quiet, unassuming, and that made it all the more potent.
Slowly, she placed her hand in his, and as he led her to the dance floor, she felt the tension in her shoulders ease. The way he moved with her was effortless, as if he understood her rhythm without needing words. The music swelled around them, creating a bubble that seemed to isolate them from the rest of the world.
Dustin’s hand rested lightly on her lower back, his touch gentle but firm. They swayed together, and Dasia found herself losing track of time, caught up in the simple pleasure of the dance. He was right; there was no need for pretense. They were just two people, sharing a moment. “Dasia.” She tells him, realizing that had been so caught up in their conversation that she didn’t introduce herself.
A small dimple formed in his cheek as he smiled down at her. “Dustin, but I'm sure you knew that.”
“Hard not to when you’re on TV everyday.” She jokes.
A deep chuckle left his lips, “Does that give me enough pull to ask you out on a date?”
“Mhmm.” She pretends to put on her thinking face, her mouth twisted to the side. “Maybe.”
When the song ended, Dustin looked down at her, his eyes reflecting a mix of satisfaction and something deeper. They still lingered closer together, even as other people left the dance floor. “I think that maybe, is a yes.” He whispers.
Dasia met his gaze, her expression thoughtful. “You really think you got me all figured out, huh?”
“Nah,” Dustin said softly, “but I’m willin’ to try.”
Dasia smiled, a genuine, unguarded smile. “Well, I guess you’ve earned yourself a chance to see what else you might figure out.”
As they walked off the dance floor together, Dasia felt a rare sense of ease. Dustin wasn’t just another player; he was someone who saw her for who she was and wasn’t afraid to stand his ground. In a world full of pretense, that was something worth holding onto. As they left The Corner Lounge together, the city lights casting a warm glow around them, Dasia felt a spark of excitement for whatever the night might bring.
