Radio Manhattan – Transmission Date 1/17/15
Lady Mercury signing in to bring you the news of the Manhattan Wastes.
To all the listeners out there, tuning in to your radios, I warmly wish you a happy Refounding Day, this seventeenth of January. Today is the day we put aside our differences, our disagreements, and our arms and come together as a single community, remembering the day Manhattan was refounded as an independent city and pay tribute to those who were lost in the effort. Kiss a loved one, buy a drink for a friend, and be sure to treat kindly your brothers and sisters who were lucky to see the sun rise alongside you.
Per the official announcement: All Refounding Day celebrations are set to take place in Central Park from late afternoon until the early hours of the morning. SHIELD and Rising Tide will each be hosting rallies and celebrations for the work of their members, and representatives from each will be on hand to welcome new wanderers to the party and invite them into their ranks. Catering for all events is to be conducted completely through The Shelter’s well-equipped kitchens, featuring several of Captain Rogers’ favorite patriotic pastries, and the North Atlantic Trading Company has graciously provided complimentary party hats and sparklers for the late-night fireworks display. Leaders from of both these establishments will also be on hand to answer any questions regarding potential employment or involvement.
Important announcement: The Central Park Farming Society has requested that all partygoers remain out of the crop fields, regardless of how delicious the remaining parsnip plants appear, as the fields are resting for the planting season, and to further avoid leaving the greenhouse doors open, as it lets in the frost. Remember that you are responsible for your own refuse and there will be no protection for anyone who incurs the wrath of the farmers. They are armed.
Before I sign off listeners, I want you to remember this: no matter your allegiances, your grudges, your frustrations, your superstitions, and your sorrows; no matter your joys, your love, your enthusiasm, your beliefs; come together as one today, keep an open mind, and make friends with those whose causes you believe in. Help us to build a stronger foundation for society as we approach our second anniversary. This is Lady Mercury for Radio Manhattan.
