Duth folk costumes

When you think of traditional dutch costumes, usually something like this comes to mind:

Flappy hats, wood shoes and pigtails.

Eventhough, personally I don't mind this stereotype, my entire generation is loosing respect for their heritage because they find this costume weird. (No offense to the area to which this costume belongs) we always look at other countries' folk costumes and acknowledge their beauty and then we look back at ours and we kinda... cringe. In some areas in the Netherlands, people still wear their costume, but these are usually the elderly. All respect to those ladies, but my generation only sees elderly people wearing these costumes and therefore think that those belong together and they associate the costumes with something old fashioned.

The thing is, each area, each village, had a different costume. The stereotype, is a costume from an area that probably saw a lot of tourists, so im gonna show you some of the most beautiful pictures from dutch folk costumes from other areas:

Look at that! Different sleeves, different headpieces, wood shoes, normal shoes, all the colors!!! Please research folk costume on an area basis, not a country basis, I hope some dutchies got their appreciation for their culture back. ❤

When I say that baking stuff for co-workers is a good way to get them on your hand; this is a visual to go with that. Home-made, doesn’t look perfect, but is deviously well caramelised like dark amber. While whispering charms.

If you can get away with it, baking this at work- especially when you work in healthcare or a related field -works like a charm on even the grumpiest of co-workers. Adults- especially straight men -turn into hungry toddlers. Feed em with this, et voila; minions for life.
