DUTY ETHICS

Kant's my homie. He's like an Amish who made it to the mainstream. Rumor has it he never traveled further than 10 miles from his home and died an 80-year-old virgin (well, 79 to be exact). 

His last words uttered as he lie on his death bed were, "Es ist gut". 

"It is good," said the man who never traveled the world or fought in a war or fucked. There is something profound to be learned from those who so scrupulously walk their talk. 

To Kant, the whole world was, in his words, "The starry heavens above me and the moral law within me"; a lasting quote which was engraved onto his tombstone over 200 years ago.

Though successful in his lifetime, could this man with shut-in like tendencies have anticipated that his words and theories would someday span the globe, and would continue to do so for generations? As a man so insistent on reason being the driving force of humanity, I'd certainly think yes.

The Duty to Live A Full Life

I am of the firm belief that it is the duty of every man to live the fullest life possible, while helping others to do the same, and encroaching on no man's ability to live such a life. A full life could be defined as one filled with pure pleasures and helping one's fellow man; while having nothing in excess, or deficit. Pure pleasures are the fruit of pure labors, in the pursuit of pure desires. A pure desire is one that is in no part motivated by lust, gluttony, or avarice; nor is it a means to an end. a pure desire is one that is for its own sake alone. A pure labor, is one which pursues a pure desire and does not in any part use the tools of fraud, violence, or treachery; instead using honesty and effort to reach one's goals. If one pursues pure goals, with pure labor, than one can obtain pure pleasures. The second part of a full life is to have neither excess nor deficit. When one finds they have too much, or more than they need to obtain happiness, then it is their duty to give it up, in order to help others achieve happiness. Conversely, if they find themselves in just such a deficit that it robs them or others of the ability to obtain happiness to the point where it is no longer bearable, then they should obtain what they lack, without reducing the ability of others to be happy, and it does no harm. If one lives a life of pure pleasures, containing neither excess, nor deficit; helps others to live such a life, while never encroaching on the rights of another to live such a life; then his life can be considered as full and ethical as possible. If living a full and ethical life was the goal of ever man than perhaps the worlds would be a happier and much more peaceful place.
