BACKGROUND:
- Duyi was born and raised in a very small village in Thailand by his mother, plus the entire village. Being in such a small town, everyone there knew everybody; and with Duyi being the baby of the community, even though not everyone there had a lot of money, they all pitched in to help his mother send him to a school in the city. While at school he was always seen as a goofy child that always causes mischief without a care in the world, he's always had a sincere side where his mother and the people close to him at home mean the absolute world to him. - His mother owns a small Thai restaurant about a 20 minute drive away from the village Duyi grew up in. From the age of 11, Duyi would work there as a waiter after school and on weekends. He didn't expect any money from it, and often turned down his mother's attempts of paying him, but a few years later he eventually started taking it, knowing that it'd make a good foundation for whatever the future had in store for him. - After graduating high school, he decided to use some of the money he got from working in order to take a trip to Hong Kong to see his dad. One day, whilst exploring the city he was spotted by a K-pop company, SM Entertainment, and was asked to audition. Immediately thinking that it was a scam he almost never went, but once he looked at it in the sense the he could be giving back to his mother and the people at home that supported him, he decided to give it a shot anyway.
- (SECRET) - Being late to join NCT, SM Entertainment made him a separate contract than the rest of his group members. While the company pushes him as one of the cash cows of the group, none of the money made from NCT releases goes to Duyi. Due to a clause in the contract he isn't allowed to disclose any of that information to anyone, including his group members. At the end of the day, he is severely overworked from his primary job and doesn't earn anything from it.
- Since he doesn't get any money from NCT, projects outside of the band like brand sponsorships or appearances on shows as a solo entity is his only form of getting money. While he chooses to keep some of it, he sends a vast majority of it back home. - Personality wise, he's Duyi LOL. He's a bit chaotic and doesn't take things too seriously. Having to travel to school and to work alone, he's a lot more street smart than he gets credit for. He can also come off as a bit cocky, but that's mostly because he doesn't really want people to see the small, poor boy that is still there under the surface. He is very much a mama's boy that just wants to give back to the people that supported him when he was younger when they really didn't need to.
