Dazzle DVC 100 Review
Quite a long time ago I purchased this to record game videos. Which I didn't really start until recently. What this product does is takes the video and sound from standard RCA and S-Video and sends it to the computer to be recorded. That's pretty much all it does. It comes bundled with a disc that has Pinnacle and Instant DVD Recorder.
Here are the things I liked about this product:
Affordable
Good quality
Low file size even on "Best" settings (About 1GB every 20 minutes)
Can use it to view anything that has a RCA or S-video output on your computer.
Its treated like a webcam and as such you can live feed it through skype, or many other software or online source.
Doesn't take a strong computer to use it. (Mine is a $500 one from 2 years ago and runs it just fine. No issues)
Since it's well known, guides are everywhere.
Things I didn't like about this product:
Quality may be good but it can take a bit to set it up to do it.
Doesn't come with RCA splitters if you are looking to record games.
Preview window lags.
This dazzle cannot do HD resolution recording
Sometimes can not eject/unmount from the computer before taking the cord out.
Black borders after recording
Sometimes a line of colored pixels at the very bottom after recording
Only the Pinnacle products are able to get the sound from the Dazzle. Other software cannot seem to grab the sound.
Pinnacle studios it's bundled with is the limited version
Too many guides are available which makes it hard to find which one to follow.
Most of the things I didn't like are actually quite small compared to the things I did like. The colored pixel is on the black border so cropping the black border out will get rid of it as well. You can get a RCA audio converter and get the sound so other products can record or live feed it.
Overall this product is quite good to start off with. It does what its meant to do and does it well. If you are looking for something professional to record footage with, this product is NOT for you.
