I’m going to re-rip my Xena and Buffy episodes. I have this new converting software that can really maintain the quality that’s on the actual DVD’s. And it will be in the format MP4 rather than AVI which is what they currently are. It’ll take awhile but it will be worth it. Nearly finished with ripping Charmed and the quality is actually really good considering they’re not in HD.
However, 1GB is the file size for every single episode.
That’s gonna add up. But at the moment these 3 shows own my life so I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you want to watch these shows, I really recommend to not go by streaming services and just buy the DVD collections and then just create digital copies of them.
What I do after I rip the episodes to my computer, is I add them to an external hardrive which I can plug into my DVD player via USB and watch them on my smart TV. My smart TV is capable of upscaling videos to 4K so I basically just watch all my video content like that.
I always avoid streaming TV shows/movies if I can. It’s not worth it paying that monthly or yearly fee for something you can just do for yourself with the right equipment and access to the original 4:3 DVD files. That’s the best way to watch these classic cult shows.
