on another note, looking back, i can't believe dvoc was only 20k back in jan. we're sitting at a happy 180k now in drafts. i've also gone through: focuswriter, libreoffice, gdocs, ellipsus, back to gdocs, and now finally a combo of scrivener and gdocs for beta'ing/polishing.
part one progress so far:
being able to track progress by scene in each chapter is so good for keeping things organized and paced for me, but once i transition from scrive to gdocs for beta review, backporting and re-splitting into scenes is a huge hassle. hence why ch7 is 6k in scrivener still and my posted version is... 8.5k. ch 8/9 have already been ported into gdoc for betaing and are also... substantially longer lol. if someone made a live editing compatible version of scrivener i would actually slob on that so hard.
there are a couple gaps still left in part 2/3, particularly w.r.t. harry's training arc and some magical system stuff.
i am absolutely wallowing. tfw you wanted to build something original and now you have to actually put in work to develop a wholly unique power system and update your already 7000 word final battle sequence with it to make the payoff sufficiently badass for your badass heroes.
i did bang out like 3k words for a very important emotional confrontation in the mid-arc that was not there on the first draft and i'm happy with how it's turned out :3
baby steps haha
