You Know It All
@dvparkjimin “Beautiful,” he sighs with a heavy gaze. Taehyung stares into the ocean, waves glistening wondrously in the rays of morning light. He stops to lean against a small, but hardy tree growing by the path he’s walking. Crossing his arms, a smile slowly graces his features. It is still relatively early in the morning, and so Taehyung has not run across many others on this path overlooking the sea. In truth, he has work in a couple hours, but here he is instead. Not that he’s a morning person particularly. No, he’s a man with a mission. Taehyung turns around to continue on the path. “Moons and Magnolias…. Cute,” He mutters to himself, as a small but quaint flower shop comes into view. In truth, this is the third day he’s found himself here. He should have stopped coming after that first day. But he can’t help himself. See, Taehyung works at Café Maru, a local coffee shop not too far away. Two days ago, the manager had charged Taehyung to pick up some fresh flowers before opening, to decorate the tables of the café. Reluctantly, he had agreed, and waking up earlier than usual should have been his only gripe that day. Instead, in an odd twist of fate, upon entering the flower shop Taehyung realized he knew the owner. He shakes his head. “No, not friends..”, he whispers to himself. Friends wouldn’t be the exact term to describe their relationship at this point, he internally muses, thinking back on their history. Taehyung first saw the boy back in the States, when he was still a freshman at Harvard. Still young, naïve, with a bright future. Ever since he caught a glimpse of the other using his powers, he had vowed to befriend him. His reasoning? He always knew, no matter how much he wanted to deny it, that he had a gift. Some sort of power over water. It was a part of himself he never understood, that he was scared of. Taehyung needed to see more. Needed to know that there were others out there like him. He resorted to borderline stalking the boy, following all his social media posts, finding out his place of residence, trying to spy on his daily activities, in hope he would catch a glimpse of him using his powers again. Of course, this backfired, as the stranger quickly caught on to his attempts at lurking, and soon after, he was nowhere to be found again. Nowhere to be found, that is, until now. That first day Taehyung walked into the flower shop, he was caught off guard. He wasn’t sure if the other recognized him, but he quickly grabbed his flowers and walked out. The second day he decided to return, he made it a mission to talk to the boy. Of course, that didn’t work according to plan, as the other practically kicked him out. “Third time’s the charm,” Taehyung laughs quietly to himself. He walks closer to the shop, admiring the display of flowers gracing the front. He quickly knocks on the side of the door. “Hello? Anyone there? It’s me,” He announces loudly. “I know you’re in there,” He remarks with a twinge of playfulness in his voice. He paces back and forth, hoping today will be more successful.
