DONATE TO RAINN

hey guys I'd just figure I hijack these tags and let ya'll know about RAINN. If you do know what RAINN is, they are the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN's against rape jokes and rape culture as well: a while back, people on instagram started a memetic rape joke called #rapeface which had over 40,000 photos tagged. RAINN supporters and other Instagram users started a social media movement against the tag. People got upset about their "free speech" and right to make those jokes, nevertheless RAINN successfully got it removed with Instagram's help.

RAINN is one of the primary charities and organizations that bring help and support towards victims of rape, abuse and sexual assault. So if they're against rape jokes and people making light of that egregious act, then I'm behind them 100% as well. They go above and beyond the call to help victims in need. But they also encourage support, and donations as well.

So if you have the chance, please donate to RAINN. You can raise money, donate your car, shop their stores, or make monthly donations. Any method is greatly appreciated. With enough people in these tags, each $5 donation could raise a total of over $1000! Or if you can't donate, then share your knowledge of this organization with your friends and other bloggers. Whichever option you chose, you'll be making a good difference.

My dash has been busier than usual, and I finally waded through all that. The last thing I read is that people are targeting John Joseco's father again. I said it before, so I'll say it a lot more strongly this time. You people who are doing that, you need to fucking stop that shit now. If you can't argue this issue without resorting to that behavior, then you need to build a REAL argument. I can snark the shit out of someone that comes at me with an attitude and weak logic. Cuss? Sure, I'm sure you're noticing that now. But I don't need to pull parents or any other part of anyone's family tree into it. How fucking DARE you take someone's pain and make it a fucking JOKE. What were we fighting against, again? Diminishing someone's trauma as a cheap laugh? Huh.   I watched my father die, literally. He was looking in my eyes as his eyes went blank. Any of you who would mock that kind of pain are sick fucking hypocrites and I question if you even know what the hell this issue is about. Notice I don't need to bring your parents into it or wish you bodily harm to tell you that. You give me more than enough to work with by your WORDS. You are not helping this argument, clean up your shit or get the fuck out the door. John Joseco has retired the series and moved on to other things. Like comedians, artists can grow and learn, so I wish him luck and hope his future endeavors reflect this. Although this is a big step in the right direction for rape culture awareness in our fandom, it's not over yet by a long shot. One small step, just as RAINN petitions something as small as an Etsy shop or the #Rapeface tag from Instagram. What's next? (I've been playing email tag with RAINN since December on conducting an art drive for them, sketches for receipt of donation to RAINN. Anyone want to join me and Sunshine with that when all the wrinkles are ironed out?)   

To certain pro-Molestia folks, Oh, more death and rape threats, 2edgy4me. I really wish anyone who receives those threats on both sides would take them to the authorities, as the ones making them NEED a hard dose of reality. And are you really, really, REALLY using Martin Niemöller as YOUR mouthpiece? Holy hell, some of you shit your britches when I used a character I blog for to say threats of harm are not cool, and now you bastardize a quote--which illustrates the selfishness of those who allowed the Nazi regime's rise to power--to make some bullshit claim of First Amendment rights over a C&D? Do you even KNOW who Martin Niemöller IS? Or is this just another sample of "quote whatever is convenient to you completely out of all context"? You say the real problem are those who can't discern fantasy from reality? Congratulations, you made that list! Go read a Wikipedia at least on the atrocities of WW2, and realize those who were the REAL victims of that quote wouldn't likely laugh at your piss-poor rape "jokes" either. This isn't about First Amendment rights. This was about Hasbro deciding what was detrimental to their product. Are you really that surprised what that decision was when one of the biggest fanworks is called "Princess Molestia" and contains sexual assault for a gag?

OK I've been out of the loop for a couple of days but I hear Molestia got a Cease and Desist order from Hasbro themselves. Everyone sent in emails to Hasbro, telling them the nature of the blog and other info. Hasbro didn't like it and lo and behold: APM's gone.

Of course bronies are absolutely pissing themselves angry over this and want pinkiepony's blood. A few of them are citing this as "the death of free speech", comparing this to Nazism, and some other egregious acts....Wow at least bottle your tears, gents.

To pinkiepony, damn gurl you rock. It was your efforts, your vision, your wish to bring this issue to light and you got it done. People contributed, moved mountains, sacrificed their safety and anonymity, yourself included. The amount of hate and death threats and other disgusting things you received were totally uncalled for. But you didn't falter or quit, like I said before you are one of the bravest women I know. Congrats to you, Hasbro, and everyone else for their support.

This is literally the first thing that came to mind as I listened to an apparently intoxicated individual try to explain why it is important to freedom to crack jokes at the expense of survivors of sexual assault. I think it was a safety shutdown the second he uttered "In it I actually get raped by Molestia! It was a lot of fun!"

Ah Christ the ride never ends with this fandom. Weren't the main arguments of people who opposed DWM "if you don't like it ignore it" so why am I looking at the notes in these recent DWM art posts and seeing all these hurt people who feel compelled to go "omg these debates are back ugh I can't believe I have to argue this post AGAIN woe is me". Like just gander at the sweet irony here; is someone holding a gun to your head and making you argue against DWM or any of the art and comics made for the movement? By your original logic, wouldn't it just be easier to just ignore it and move on?
