oh man, that’s an old one lol. it’s was a girl dropped into the red vs blue universe in season one. only, she ends up in power armor with busted speakers/comms unit, so she’s can’t communicate with anyone else. Her name was Bishop because i think i’m funny. snippet under the cut!
“Hello? Can you hear me?" You say. No response. The idiot in blue armor -- power armor? - continues to ramble like a water fountain with the knob busted off. "Hey!"
" -- I know how to make the best lemon pie --"
"Heloooo! Are you deaf?"
"-- blah blah dog of some king --"
"Your mother is a vacuum cleaner. And not even a nice one. A broken one, that doesn't work anymore."
No response.
So. Either he can't hear you, or your voice isn't getting through. You touch the cool glass over your face with gloved hands. From the feel of it, you're wearing the same sort of armor he's in. That clears up nothing, but -- maybe it's soundproof? How was he talking anyway?
...the hud on this thing looks pretty high tech. "Suit," You say. "Diagnostic test."
There's a moment of silence -- then a flash of light makes you flinch back on instinct.
"Welcome to the (armor name) series MRK 759-22b. How may I be of assistance, Private Bishop?" A cool female voice asked, bizarrely close to your ears.
"Bishop? Is... is that my name?" Private? Are you in the army?
"Unknown query. Please rephrase the question."
Okay, a limited AI, like a voice run a search engine. "Uh -- Suit, run diagnostics on speakers."
Nothing.
You rack your brain. "Check the... amplifiers?"
This time the voice responded. "Affirmative. Running diagnostic. Please stand by."
A dizzying column of numbers ran down across your vision. You blink. It's like wearing a VR headset, except with more clarity.
The numbers blinked again, then vanished. "Diagnosing completed. Results: Cracked left gauntlet. Life support offline. Biofoam well depleted. Vocal Amplifiers, offline. --"
The list went on and on and your eyebrows go up with every item. This suit, though fine on the outside, was clearly second rate. There were more things wrong with it than were right.
If you were in the army, that was probably a bad thing.
"Suit -- do you have a name? I can't keep calling you suit, that's stupid." You say.
"Unknown Query. Please rephrase the question." The voice said.
The face you make is reflected back faintly in the glass of your helmet. "Fine. Uh, suit change designation from 'Suit' to -- " You have no idea. What's a good girl's name? "--Friday."
"Understood."
You exhale. "Alright. Friday, the suit seems pretty broken. How do I fix it?"
