mind    is    being    kept    busy .                     she’s    worried    ,          but    she’d    never    admit    it .                she’d    never    let    on    how    concerned    she    was    for    this    evening .             his    first    𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐲  -  𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫    dance    ,                and    she’s    panicking    something     will    go    wrong    .                heart    beats    so    violently    against    her    chest    ,               but    it    seems    tamed    the    moment    she    sees    him .             such    a    smile    wanders    over    lips    ,             grabbing    a    cloth    to    dry    wet    hands    before    she’s    moving    over .                ‘ ‘             you    really    should    learn    to    do    this    yourself    ,             y’know .               ’ ’               but    giggle    reassures    that    he    shouldn’t    ,             that    she    loved    such    intimate    moments .             even    if    she    didn’t    admit    it    out    loud .                ‘ ‘             you    know    ,             i’m    just    a    call    away    if    anything    happens .             ’ ’

𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝚑𝚊𝚍 𝚏𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚗 𝚊𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚝, there was no rebuilding.  everything had been beyond the point of repair.  maybe it was for the best, they rationed.  there had already been so much damage.  do better.  be better.  it’s what harper and monty would have preached to them and as much as she had wanted that for herself, for all of them, it had failed spectacularly.  it’s even more clear now when there’s nothing left to do but pick up the pieces of what had been destroyed.  sanctum’s people no longer had any leaders, any guidance.  but it’s clear what needs to be done without it.  bury the dead and rebuild.

“the makeup was a good look for you.”  a teasing remark, trying to lighten up just a bit.  a smile ghosts the corners of her lips for only a moment as she looked over at murphy.  it hadn’t been that long ago that she had been scared assumed he had betrayed them.  she’s grateful it wasn’t that.  “you should keep it up.”
