I never had the desire to be a mother or spent any time thinking about what it would be like to have a child. And then I got pregnant at 20 and heard his heartbeat for the first time in a small examination room. Then we almost lost him when he was born - I was told this after we brought him home. He almost died shortly after birth, he couldn't breathe and thank whatever God is out there that the doctors & nurses got him breathing again. He spent only a week in the NICU and he was released two days before Mother's Day. Now here we are, 7 years later. Healthy little weirdo. So thanks Dylan for making me a mom and thanks to my husband for giving me something I never knew I wanted. #happymothersday #motherhood #parenthood #nicu #dylanprice

BACKGROUND / BIO

Tom and Julia Price were a couple who moved to the Merrock suburbs shortly after getting married in the year 1988. They settled into the quiet neighborhood and a few years later opened up The Creamery. It wasn’t until December 3rd, 1992 that their little family expanded with the birth of their son, Dylan Cameron Price. Their family grew once more a few years later with the birth of Dylan’s little brother. Dylan had a fairly normal childhood filled with little league practices and bi-weekly family game nights. By the time he reached high school, his interest shifted from sports to music. He taught himself how to play the guitar and a couple years later formed a band with some of his friends. They mainly played cover songs at their high school talent shows, but were lucky enough to play a couple small scale gigs around the neighborhood. By the time his junior year had rolled around, the band had dissipated. Around the same time, he got into his first real relationship with a girl named Alli. They had the typical type of high school sweetheart romance. They graduated high school together in 2010 and went off to college together at the University of Maine. The two lovebirds moved into a small apartment off campus. It was the perfect place for them to gain some independence and get a taste of the real world. At first, everything was picture-perfect between having a place of their own to their beautiful and loving relationship. However as time went on, the pressure of school, work, and other adult responsibilities began to weigh them down. It wasn’t until 2012 when their entire world turned upside down with the result of a positive pregnancy test. On October 20th, 2012 Alli gave birth to their son Caleb Lucas Price. They tried their best to keep their relationship together for the sake of their son. Dylan dropped out of college and took a full time job managing a local retail store. It wasn’t his dream career, but it gave him enough money to keep a roof over their heads and to take care of the baby. Both he and Alli grew tired of trying to make things work. They realized their relationship had run its course and they were much different people than they were in their high school years. They amicably decided to split and got joint custody over Caleb. Both he and Alli knew the best thing for everyone would be to return back home to Merrock to get back on their feet. Dylan temporarily moved back to the suburbs and into his parent’s house and even picked up a full time job at The Creamery. It took him a couple years of saving up and with the help of his parents chipping in, he managed to find a beautiful home on the beach by the coast and pier. In 2017 his parents decided to pass on the family business of The Creamery to Dylan. He was more than happy to carry on the legacy, since the ice cream shop had been a staple in his life since he was a child. And with a son of his own, he hopes to create plenty of new memories and maybe even pass the business along in the future when Caleb is old enough.
