There are many instances that prove D&D don't care about the lore. But the biggest to me was that it took until the last episode of Season 7 for someone to suggest for Jon and Daenerys to marry. I don't ship them, but this is exactly how Westeros works. The fact that not even Tyrion, who is looking for a diplomatic solution, could think of this obvious deal is a major failing for the show.
