Revisiting a very old concept, ‘Dyscrasia’ a worldbuilding project that I started shortly before I started this blog in 2015. However, due to personal issues I lost steam with the project and forgot all about it. I was recently reminded of it, and chose to start with taking a crack at completing a sketch design.

FUNDAY MONDAY, OR THE BOOKS THAT WILL HELP ME SURVIVE THE WEEK AHEAD (DECEMBER 18, 2017)

Another week begins.  I quickly slip into my business suit and head back into the office to save a few innocent people. But while I try to fool myself into being excited about the promise of a new year and the continuation of the regular grind, deep down, I’m not, so I’m going to escape dreary reality by reading some great books.

more humors monsters stuff

out of the four, I think Elliot would be the only one with any sort of dedicated following. while some “doctors” would take an interest in studying one humor over the others, the other three are wild cards and wouldn’t really be good at having followers. Toto would bring humans together to ramp up their emotions and feed off of them, UR Here would use them to manipulate and then dump them when he’s through, and Gregor would hide from anyone trying to find him. only Elliot, who is a healer, would allow humans to be around it and NOT use them for ulterior motives. considering his design is already based on a plague doctor mask, his followers are probably true physicians, and while creepy, are altruistic and thus allowed to harvest his blood for medicines.

okay, so, further thought about Doctors:

not only do they look like anatomy charts, but the anatomy they chose to expose is that linked to the humor they have the most affinity for. sanguinarians expose the heart; melancholics the spleen; phlegmatics the brain; cholerics the liver. likewise they build their fashions off of their favorite humor(s) - sanguinarians wear red, with budding branches and flowers and billowy, loose clothing; melancholics wear black, decaying things, and gems and rocks; phlegmatics wear green, dress in withered plants, furs, and draped clothing; cholerics wear yellow, wear less articles of clothing, and carry fiery emblems with themselves.

Dyscrasia stuff:

- Toto identifies with a species of monsters that fear on human madness but he himself is not one of them; just happened to get raised by them. the choleric tendencies mean he doesn’t really want to eat people, but is cannibalistic (as far as he knows)

- UR Here is really a collection of eyeballs that are controlled by a smarter eyeball, that uses secreted phlegm to hold them all together. hence why the pipa pipa eyes can detach and float around

- Elliot Church was born from a bird that had been splashed with the blood of two lovers; while he hatched from an egg normally, he is actually sentient fungus and not related to his avian ‘mother’ at all

- Gregor is the only one that is not unique; he is part of a species of moth-rabbit hybrids found in the wild, but the black bile corrupted him. he is also the only one of the four whose Humor is not created internally and native to his body

- there are probably normal humans in the setting? Doctors tend to be hermetic and on the fringes of civilization, while cult leaders are very social and urban. Doctors are held in high esteem everywhere, though; country folk view them in the way pre-Christian witches would have been, going to them for remedies for illnesses, to bless harvests, etc. city slickers view alchemy more like a fashion statement and will mainly try to get Doctors to turn them into chimeras

- Doctors are all around pretty skeevy and self-interested, though, regardless of who they’re dealing with

- the true followers of Elliot Church call themselves Physicians and are in strict opposition with Doctors, since Physicians are actually trying to better human life while Doctors are trying to play god
