Decoding Dyslexia
"Are you a robot?" It's a common annoyance when you're quickly trying to confirm your online shopping order - typing out a box of obscurely displayed letters is not an efficient use of the lunch break! These Captchas aren't all bad though, a campaign created by an Indian hospital is using them to promote dyslexia awareness!
Today 1 in 10 children are diagnosed with dyslexia but teachers and parents are constantly mistaking the condition for laziness. To get the message across, Jaslok Hospital generated a new Captcha replacing the familiar pixelated letters we're accustomed to and instead displayed dyslexic children's handwriting. It turned out that a staggering 95% of visitors couldn't read it and hit the refresh button where they were taken to a campaign message about dyslexia. These Captcha's reached 1,000,000 people, an incredible result for dyslexia awareness.
