I also finally named E!Harvey. He is now Julian. I did however write this whole thing and most of the tags before deciding this. I’m too lazy to fix the tags and I may have left ‘E!Harvey’ in the body of the post here and there.
It was created not long after the original, but it was mostly a carbon copy of the original, except that Ebony’s mental state was even worse than Jet’s

I don’t know how much worse it’d be, really, but it’d be much more interesting if Julian wanted Ebony instead of Void. He’s an obsessive kind of person, and before Ebony killed him Ebony had managed to make Julian actually love him (mainly romantically). He would be mad for a while, sure, but I more importantly I think he’d convince himself that Ebony does actually love him. He’d never agree to take him otherwise! Right? no honey you fell for his lies just like he wanted you to
Void will probably be mostly okay? If he shows up looking for Ebony he still won’t be allowed to leave, but he can roam free, and he’s not getting the same treatment as Dark. Julian still likes him, so he won’t die.
Biotite is probably also okay for the most part. Julian is likely to be jealous, but Ebony’s already being weirdly avoidant and confrontational (can’t imagine why), so killing his ‘boyfriend’ would be a terrible idea. He can see that Biotite’s been lying to Ebony, though. Maybe he can convince Ebony to break up with him…?
But that doesn’t end up happening.
Ebony is also allowed to free roam, with Julian following him literally everywhere and insisting that they’re still dating no matter what Ebony says. And Ebony has a lot to say about it, including by not limited to:
“Get the hell away from me.”
“I hate you, I’ve always hated you, and you’re delusional if you think otherwise!”
“I lied to and killed you! Are you really this stupid?? Do I have to kill you again to get it through your head?!?”
He goes through a little bit of what Dark did, just. More directly.
Void and Biotite, when they get there, try to help him, but all they can do is be emotional support. They can’t do anything to a ghost. And if they try he’ll just possess one of them and interact with Ebony through them. at least he knows they’re possessed…?
But eventually Julian will realize there’s only one way to make absolutely sure Ebony stays with him forever. And poor Void gets to be there in Ebony’s last few moments. Haven’t decided exactly what happens there, though. Maybe Julian did it himself, or by possessing Biotite, and Void found them at the last minute. Maybe he possessed Void. Maybe if he was in a really weird mood he possessed Ebony and made it look like Ebony did it himself.
Either way poor Ebony is now dead, and there is even less he can do to get away from Julian now. Julian probably keeps a very tight hold of him now too just to make extra sure his dear Ebony doesn’t wander too far. It’s so much more confusing in here when you can phase through the walls! It’s much better to just stick with him <33
Eventually Ebony will realize he can just possess Void, hide there, and refuse to leave. So he does that in a rare moment when Julian leaves him alone. He lets Void have control for the most part because he just wants to hide, but Void knows he’s there. And for now, Void has 0 issues with this.
With them spending literally every second together it’s likely Void will eventually find out all the ways Ebony lied to him, but they’ll probably have to get out first. They’re a little distracted right now.
Julian is heartbroken that he can’t find Ebony suddenly. Where did his love go…? He couldn’t have gotten far; they’re all still stuck in the hotel! But…but where is he…? Oh, Ebony…
unfortunately void is the only other one there Julian likes, and Ebony ofc adores him, so Julian sticks very close to Void now.
When Ebony and Void first encountered Biotite and his team, Ebony immediately decided to be a little shit. Which is his way of flirting. Biotite, however, was not having it, and when Ebony pushed his luck too far, Biotite damn near killed him.
But Biotite offered to let him live, if Ebony worked for him. Ebony, who’d seen how Biotite had been looking at Void as the latter tried to help Emerald and Chrys, said “okay, but only if you don’t hurt Void. at all. Don’t even touch him just leave him alone.”
Biotite agreed, on one condition. Ebony was very happy with the deal.
Void was appalled when he heard, but Ebony waved off his concerns, saying that it was worth it to keep Void safe. Void didn’t believe Biotite would keep his end of the bargain, but as time passed, the worst Biotite did to Void was to make sure he couldn’t help Emerald and Chrys leave the manor. And also give him smug looks like “yeah i’m getting away with this shit. What are you going to do about it?”
Since Biotite is such a bitch, and has forbidden the few people he’d want to hang out with from talking to him at all, Void’s hardly ever seen around the manor. He doesn’t see any point in hanging around if he’s going to get people in trouble, and he certainly doesn’t want to hang around Biotite. Unfortunately, this works in Biotite’s favor more than he realizes. Biotite knows Void has been trying to convince Ebony that Biotite is manipulating him, too, and if he can keep Ebony in the manor and away from Void…
Anyways, Ebony quickly turned out to be a great asset to the team. Between his shadow-traveling, talent for subterfuge, and his unquestionable power, Biotite is very glad he spared Ebony’s life. He’s also realized that Ebony is very, very desperate for attention and is quite easy to manipulate because of that.
Ebony, as mentioned previously, believes Biotite loves him (romantically), and he’ll do just about anything to keep Biotite happy. He’s still a little shit though so he’s still pestering and intentionally irritating Biotite a lot. Being Annoying and Taking Care Of You are Ebony’s two main love languages. Biotite would stab him for trying to take care of him, so instead Ebony just annoys the shit out of him.
Bornite and Ebony get to share a spot for a moment, which is funny because they’d probably kill me for it. They have been fighting since the day Ebony joined the team, and until and unless they both realize that Biotite’s lying ass is not worth fighting over they’ll be fighting until the day they die. Or just the day Bornite dies, since Ebony’s mostly immortal and will outlive her unless someone kills him first. They both want to be Biotite’s favorite minion. Biotite pretends he doesn’t want them to fight while subtly encouraging it, because their competitive bullshit is getting him good results. Ebony’s winning though because he’s useful to Biotite for other things, which Bornite isn’t and doesn’t want to be. And Ebony is so smug about it. Asshole (i say, affectionately).
Speaking of Bornite…
Biotite is very, very good at manipulating people. And an amnesiac, especially one that was stuck in a vast empty Nothing and was probably in at least a little distress, is especially easy to manipulate.
Bornite was told that they were friends. And that she was helping him with something big; that she said she’d stick with him until he gets what he’s been trying to get for ages. She believed him immediately.
When he brought her back to the manor, he told her that he had thought she was dead, so he, uh…donated all her stuff. Sorry. She has no reason to think this is a lie. She’s a little annoyed, but if he thought she was dead then that was a pretty reasonable thing to do. It’s not like she missed any of that stuff. Since she couldn’t remember what that ‘stuff’ could’ve been.
She and Emerald didn’t get along from the start, but even so, it didn’t take her long to pick up on what Biotite was doing to him and Chrys. When she confronts Biotite about it, he acts like he doesn’t know why she’s so concerned. Absolutely no clue. Then he gives her a sympathetic look and goes “I guess the anti-void messed with your head a lot more than I realized.”
That shuts down the conversation real fast. She’s still got this gut feeling that something is very wrong, but she’s convinced herself it’s just like. A matter of opinion. Nothing more.
Biotite sees the team, including Ebony, as nothing but tools. High-maintenance tools, especially in Ebony and Bornite’s cases, but tools nonetheless. The moment they stop being useful to him, they’re gone. Ebony is lucky that he has multiple uses. Frankly, that’s the only reason he’s the Favorite.
In the meantime Epidote is theoretically doing what she can to minimize the damage done, fix things that can be fixed, and hunt Biotite’s bitch ass down and deal with him. Will she make it? God only knows.
Void is Ebony’s childhood friend, and (if you ask Ebony) boyfriend. If you ask Void, they’re just friends. Very affectionate friends. Ebony will actively avoid talking to Void about whether or not they’re dating, but Ebony firmly believes they are, regardless of what Void thinks.
Void would like to help Emerald and Chyrs out of their shitty situation, but Biotite’s closed off pretty much every option except ‘kidnap them and hope biotite never finds them again’ and that’s not really going to work. For a number of reasons, but the main one being that Biotite will find them.
He’s pretty much just…hanging out. In his and Ebony’s castle. Waiting for Ebony to come visit. He’s been visiting less and less these days…And Void knows it’s because of Biotite.
i'm going to drop off a few lore-important names for the mer AU
I said recently that the royalty AUs (excluding the funky magic one) ended up being nice AUs. That means, even if characters are antagonists in their source material, they're Good now. or at least cool. they're not bad guys
So.
The god of the deep ocean is Biotite. He's a cecelia, though he has a normal size form and a Big Godly Form which he rarely used. He's incredibly powerful (wow. ancient god of magic is super powerful. shock and dismay) and he generally hangs out in deeeep deep trenches anyways; which just so happens to be where the cave he's sleeping in is.
His messenger and best friend is Ebony; another cecelia. he's nowhere near as fucked up as he is in his source material. He's semi-immortal; he can theoretically be killed, but he could live forever if he doesn't take lethal damage from anyone or anything.
There are two other immortals that are related (lore-wise; not like. family) to those two; them being Emerald and Void. Emerald is kind of a minor god, though he doesn't do a whole lot. Void is semi-immortal the same way Ebony is. The two of them travel around a lot, but frequently return to check in on Ebony and Biotite.
Also, I left out a bit of lore when I was talking about how cecelias and magic came to be known as evil.
The king's consort and his bestie, who fled to the cave Biotite and Ebony retreated to, are still alive. They're not immortal, but they were told that their mates may one day be reborn, and they would like to stick around for that. to make sure they find them again. So Ebony keeps them in suspended animation. some sleeping beauty type shit. He will occasionally wake them to feed them and talk and give updates. Which is literally just whatever world news Emerald and Void have brought to him.
They are. dramatic pause. Jet and Dark. If you can guess who the consort was, you can easily figure out who the king was, too. it's. it's a much healthier relationship here. because we said so. Jet's a cecelia as well; i think some octopus that can change colors, but I don't remember. Everyone else is an unspecified Fish that's not an octopus, squid, or leviathan.
So. All of them are still around, centuries if not millennia after Biotite went dormant. Theoretically, Petruccio and Gonzalo and the gang(TM) (joke) could find them. And they very well might.
but in the meantime ebony is all alone and bored and wondering just how long it's going to take for Biotite to wake up. And he's starting to fear that he never will.
he will tho. eventually. relatively soon in-universe actually but i'm not sure if that specific event will be relevant to the DU guys yet
