if somebody had told him years ago that he’d be teaching at a high school, enjoying his time after classes grading papers that looked to be written by monkeys, erik would’ve laughed. and then he might have shown said person why that wouldn’t be his life. and yet here he was, his feet stretched out before him, a vaguely annoyed expression on his face as he studied a student’s german exam.
❝ ich ging nackt schwimmen. i went swimming naked. wonderful. ❞ erik leaned forward, circling the word nackt and scribbling next to it, ❛ the word you’re looking for is nacht, unless you meant to tell me about your skinny dipping endeavors. ❜
a weary sigh escaped him, and he skimmed down the rest of the page, unsurprised to find more grammatical errors and misused words. ❝ was lehre ich ihnen? nichts? ❞ before the headache could form, erik dropped his pen and abandoned the stack of papers. his eyes focused on the newton’s cradle resting off to the side of his desk. with the barest of thoughts one of the balls began to move, striking the others and forcing the spheres into movement. it was better than grading, at the least.
