**[Silicon Valley Talk: Building a Business Network with Heidi Roizen](http://www.business-school.ed.ac.uk/about/school-events/?a=46529)** Thursday, 9th August 2012 17.00 - 19.00 Auditorium, Business School, George Square Heidi Roizen, a former Vice-President at Apple and a current Venture Capitalist in Silicon Valley, is speaking at the Entrepreneurship Club this week. Heidi is a fantastic speaker with a practical, down-to-earth approach to startups and technology. After spending three months in Edinburgh last year as an entrepreneur-in-residence, she's also a well-known and well-informed figure in Scotland. Come along to the Business School this Thursday at 5pm to join a discussion about Building a Business Network, and take this chance to get the news, hot-off-the-presses, from Silicon Valley. Social enterprise is more than charity and more exciting than plain business. Come along for some stimulating discussion and interesting debate on how Scotland does Big Society (and that has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with making an impact). If you are looking for a career that delivers impact as well as earning a salary you should consider the growing social enterprise world.
Inspiring Scotland and the Acquiring Business 4 Good programme work between social enterprises and the private sector in a variety of ways, they are hosting this event with the E-Club in order to hear your views about social businesses and innovation for good. The speakers include:

In addition, Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Loan Fund will be there to highlight their support for Scottish Companies. Event: Gordon McLeod of Wolfson Microelectronics Speaks at E-Club
[**Informatics Entrepreneurship and Design of the Digital Marketplace Discussion Series - Gordon McLeod, Wolfson Microelectronics**](http://www.business-school.ed.ac.uk/about/school-events?a=43799) Tuesday, 3rd April 2012 15:00 - 16:00 Auditorium, Business School, 29 Buccleuch Place Gordon McLeod is currently a Director of Engineering at Wolfson Microelectronics. He leads a team of around 30 engineers who are responsible for the design and productionisation of Wolfson's popular Audio Hub chips. He has worked in the semiconductor industry for 23 years with stints at Ferranti, Intel and Wolfson. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1988 with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Microprocessor Systems. This event will be followed by a drinks reception.
