Ford Falcon (EA), 1988 This is what the VN/VP was up against - Ford's new EA Falcon. With a 3.9 litre straight six, the Falcon had the additional benefit of an optional front bench seat, making it a firm favourite for taxi fleets across the country. The LWB Fairlane/LTD variants would also prove popular with government and official work, with the equivalent VQ Statesman/Caprice still two years away. The Falcon range still lacked a V8 however, unlike the Commodore. This, combined with the Commodore's move into the full-size segment saw Falcon relinquish the top spot on the sales chart to the Commodore. The Ford V8 would return in 1991 with the mildly restyled EB. #ford #eafalcon #ea26
