Ezio had pulled up the information on the hit on his phone. Reading it carefully as he traveled to his destination. Malik was good, really good. Details upon details, dates, numbers, addresses, even blood type.
He was better than, dare he say, Shaun.
Where he was going was about an hour away. About five or so blocks away from where he presumed Altair had been when he was stabbed. Ezio sighed through his nose at that thought. "Distracted..." he muttered mockingly.
He looked around, gauging where he was to the designated location. He looked at his phone again. He pulled up a text and addressed it to Altair.
"I made it safely. You better be resting god damn it or I will send these fools to you." he sent it and pulled up another blank text, this time to Leonardo.
"Leonardo, I'm sorry I have not been in touch lately. I am currently on a mission to kill those who hurt Altair. I asked Malik to watch him, but if you can too, I would appreciate that. I will let you know when I finish." he sent it and tucked his phone away.
He looked off to his right and took a deep breath before breaking into a sprint across the roofs. If he was correct, his destination would be about six blocks down. Not much of a run, compared to others.
After several minutes of running, Ezio slowed to a stop. He crouched low and looked around. The area was open. No real place to duck under should he be spotted. These were gang members after all, Ezio wouldn't put it past them to use guns and other firearms.
He clicked his tongue. He was never one for such things. Of course if the situation called for it, sure, but he was rather old school, as many put it. There was just something more intimate about using a knife.
He carefully made his way to the edge of the building and looked down. Immediately he ducked back away. About ten gang members stood there, talking. He carefully flipped through his options in his head. They would be carrying guns, so he had to cautious with how he approached this. He looked around and saw that the building he was on connected to his targets.
If he was lucky, maybe he could just skip the minions and go straight to the boss. Ezio slowly made his way to the small bridge, running fast across and ducked behind a small vent. He looked around and jumped down to the lower area of the roof. There was a window on the side of the building he was just standing on when he landed and looked around.
Perfect. He thought. He tested it, sliding it open with a strong push up. He carefully looked in. A warehouse. It would be...he sighed inwardly and slowly let himself in. He hated warehouses. Large and open, no real room to hide. It was like a giant playroom with deadly flying projectiles.
He carefully walked on the catwalk he was on, making sure his foot steps were light. He heard the echoes of voices.
“‘Ey so, they found Ronnie and Drew. Niggas had a knife go through them both.” someone said. Ezio stilled and listened. “Must have been that guy you all up and hired.”
“We should have just killed that mother fucker then when we’s all had him in the alley.”
“Nah man, he was too fast all fucking crouching tiger hidden dragon shit.”
Judging by the voices, they were young. Younger than Ezio. He hated killing such young people, but well what can you do. He prayed he could avoid them. A new voice caught Ezio’s attention.
“He’s an assassin.” this voice was much older, if by a few years. “I don’t know if you remember, but he messed with my brother, Charlie.”
“Killed ‘em right?”
“Yes.”
It was silent and Ezio slowly looked out to see if he could see where the voices were coming from. No, he’d have to get closer. Ezio looked around, seeing a few boxes piled high enough for him to climb on and down. He slowly, carefully ducked under the railing and stepped on to the boxes. Meanwhile the voices continued.
“That’s why you wanted him dead. Cause they messed with your boy.”
“And now he is free and killing us one by one. Fuck!” there was a slam. Ezio paid no attention, carefully making his way to the floor. “He’s probably on his way here...”
“How do you know?” a new voice, still young. Ezio counted four people so far.
“Yeah. I mean when we looked at the place where Ronnie got killed there was a lot of blood. Som leading out and away. He probably got done in too.”
You wish. Ezio thought absently and dropped down on to the floor. He did however curse the fact Altair had left a blood trail. It wasn’t anything vital, but they had been taught to never leave a trail.
“Yeah so, maybe he dead boss.”
“I wouldn’t count on it.”
Ezio nodded, the boss was right, a fucking idiot, but right. He carefully walked forward, mindful of his surroundings. He peered around a large pile of boxes, a clear view of the group talking. He was right. Four young looking kids surrounded an older looking man. His target. He just glittered in gold. Quite literally.
The door was open behind them and Ezio could see that the ten he spotted earlier were standing right out there. This was no good. Fifteen to one. He’s had worse odds, but still. Ezio thought for a minute and settled on a plan. He would use the warehouse to his advantage. It was like a maze, how the boxes were stacked and set up. He could lure them around and take them one by one. But maybe the boss man would get away before Ezio could even get half way with the small fries. Cazzo...
A direct approach it was. He had one shot then. One shot to instantly kill the boss. He waited.
“You worry too much!” one of the kids said, “Look why don’t you go on and run back to your house, we got this.” he said and pounded on the front of his chest.
“Yeah boss, go take a bath you smell something fierce.” They laughed. The boss looked less than amused. Ezio though silently agreed to the idea of the boss going home. Going home meant privacy. Going home meant a close face to face kill.
“Maybe. I probably should...You fuckers better guard our shit well. I paid good money for this shipment to get here safe. If I come back and see all of it smoked I will put a bullet in each of your heads, got it?!” he yelled and the kids mumbled a yes sir. Ezio couldn’t believe his luck. He quickly scaled the boxes again when all five of them filed out of the door.
The sky was darker now, night had settled. Ezio ran to the edge of the building, crouching low and watched as the boss went into a car and drove off. He pulled out his phone and quickly looked for his address Malik sent him. “Got you.” he muttered and took off.
