Cropping ears

So I've called literally all of the vets near me and only two do them. It's not that I want her to only look aesthetically pleasing but it'll cut down on her ear infections. Why is this so hard.. also one of the receptionists told me it was illegal to crop her ears because she's a mutt? Not too sure about that one because the two that said yes knew about her mixes..
