Where on The Football Field is Earl Thomas?
While heading into the week I was a mixed bag of emotions. Thinking about last week’s win still had me hoping we were going to go to LA and crush the Rams. We had the intensity and drive from season’s past. I was ready for it… but we were playing the Rams, who for some reason end up dominating the Seahawks when we play them. Seahawks vs Rams in mind is usually a defense vs defense game. It’s intense, my anxiety can’t handle it, and then we lose. At least that is what usually happens. Today’s game was still a defense vs defense kind of game except we came out on top. I will say the last 8 seconds I was a little worried but thankfully things played out how they should have (at least for a Seahawks fan they did).
The first half of the game was pretty messy. Actually, let me just go ahead and say the whole game was messy. There were a lot of missed opportunities. What we had been given from the Rams we should have actually done something with those opportunities. We should have had more than 16 points at the end of the game had we of taken advantage for the Rams mistakes. Our offense, while much better this game still wasn’t fully involved in making plays.
I want to create a spin of show of “Where in The World Is Carmen San Diego,” it’ll be called, “Where on The Football Field is Earl Thomas?” It’s almost to the point, I don’t know who makes what plays, I just expect Earl Thomas had some part in it. Earl Thomas is EVERYWHERE. Honestly, he could suddenly be playing Wide Receiver and I would be like oh, Earl is on offense now, okay, sure.
It was also nice to see Kam Chancellor make some big hits this game. I feel like for someone who was easily given the nickname “Bam Bam” he has been a little quiet this season. Maybe it is Earl Thomas dominating the defense that has calmed the storm that is Kam Chancellor.
Thomas Rawls. Aside from his rookie season I’m wondering what else he has contributed to the Seahawks. I feel like 2 years ago we were waiting for him to get better, last season we were waiting for him to get better, this season we’re… well he’s here. With this being his first game back was a little warm up before he’ll be back to playing like he was his rookie year? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Jimmy Graham. If a train is traveling at 60MPH and another train is traveling at 70MPH and they both make it to the station at 11:30PM, what are the Seahawks going to do with Jimmy Graham? It was nice to see Jimmy Graham get his first touchdown this season. It would be even better if they would utilize him more. A thing I know I’ve said in the past… but there was a moment right before Russell Wilson was sacked (the first time), had he of just looked left Jimmy Graham was WIDE OPEN. Then of course the question becomes would Jimmy Graham be able to catch the ball?
How about Russell Wilson’s semi tackle after that interception? While I’m not happy about the situation got to give him props for doing what he did. Oh, and every time Blair Walsh is on the field my heart stops. I can’t watch. My anxiety kicks it into overdrive but somehow, he managed to not let me down.
Boom for Thought: All of the Seahawks need to study how Earl Thomas plays. They need to study that and apply it to how they play. They need to play with the heart that Earl Thomas has, and the strength, and intensity. If everyone played like that, defense, offense, special teams we would be the most powerful team in the league.
This week’s MVP (in my mind): Earl Thomas
