So I said I would post more about early Panic but I realize there is a blog on here that is already done that can explain it all much better than I can. This talks about the roles, the personalities and how things worked early on. If you are newer to the Panic fandom, it will definitely shed light on the early days of the band. Enjoy!!

(this is mostly context that I want to reference elsewhere). In 2005-2006 I thought Brendon, Ryan, and Spencer all had very different, but
Ryan's livejournal entries that could be recovered in 2006 through ljseek were text-only. Now 20 years later it's harder to remember for certain which picture corresponds to which post (especially if those pictures became heavily used elsewhere).
So on November 28, 2004 Ryan made a lj entry with the title “take those pics and write the hits" after talking to Pete. Then Pete drove out to Vegas to meet the band that coming weekend. Ryan's lj post on Friday had the text "panic at the disco" and his post on Saturday said "from left to right: brendon (guitar vocals) spencer (drums) me(guitar lyrics) (brent bass)."
I think this is maybe the corresponding picture?
that was used as the band picture for several things, like early forum layouts and the FBR newsletter.
and this was taken on the same day:
I feel like I have memories related to these pictures that are out of reach so I'm just going to give up and post this
It's Time to Dance video?
the fact that kids have cell phones almost everywhere now & record videos of every moment sucks in so many ways, BUT it would have been amazing to briefly have that in spring 2005 when Brendon Urie was a senior in high school and showed his broadcast class a homemade video for the It's Time to Dance demo. some Vegas kids talked about that during the early Fever era, but nobody had any evidence ugh. one girl made it sound like a music video... and at this point I think I need to accept that I will never see it
so I'm not looking at all the links & pics I'm sent rn but I did look at this screenshot and it's a great example of how context matters:
that is not a mystery girl confirming Ryden.
this is Paulina.
She was good friends with the band (to the point where I still think the Polish in the introduction of AFYCSO was a nod to her, but that's only my own guess). She went to high school with Ryan. She was an early supporter of The Summer League and then P!ATD. She became friends with Brendon and called him "Brenda."
Ryan, Brendon, and Paulina shared the same sense of humor. Like either Brendon OR Ryan could have written this lol:
It is not meant to be taken seriously omg I cringe at this post from Pathetic at the Disco:
Again, they were friends with the same sense of humor.
The band waited to leave for Maryland until Brendon was done with high school. On May 30th he posted "the countdown has begun to maryland. excitement. stress. anxiety." On June 6th he posted "8 days. i’m so ready but i’m so not." Paulina replied:
they left for Maryland on June 13th. here's Brendon's post that day:
The band shared some pictures:
The band was back in Vegas by July 28th and had a couple weeks before they'd be leaving again for two national tours:
The Take Cover Tour was in Vegas:
like she wasn't a random girl who was revealing something to Brendon in her posts... she was just bugging her friend
have any of you ever headed down to the Sahara West Library to recreate Panic's spring 2005 photoshoot? I feel like that could be hilariously cringey
adding some random old icons that fans were using online before P!ATD even played their first show:
from Panic's purevolume in spring 2005:
that same old picture was on their myspace that they'd started in December 2004. it was also used in this FBR newsletter:
and by that point Ryan's AIM screen name was the only one left as the contact (Brendon's AIM was aboynamedskip, Brent's was screenametaken1, and Spencer's was twentyninepiecer):
aaand here's a random fan-made promo from that spring too:
do you know when each demo of camisado, time to dance, and nails came out in chronological order? thx
The first demo of It’s Time To Dance was posted to purevolume around October 24, 2004. That's the one Pete heard.
The band started to record the “Nails for breakfast and tacks for snacks” demo in early November 2004. The untitled demo was posted on purevolume in mid-November (this is related). Ryan posted the lyrics on his lj too (here’s that tightpants post too just because).
the second version of It's Time to Dance (cause boys will be boys) was posted on purevolume around January 20, 2005. Here's more info.
I’m not sure exactly when the Relax Relapse demo was posted… I only know it wasn’t up yet in February 2005 but it was definitely on purevolume by April. They also used that demo on the summer samplers.
here's more about the samplers too
