Could I ask what exactly you feel trees have to teach and how to learn from them? I've tried some meditations but had little success.
um well it depends on the tree and what you associate with it, its magical correspondences, lore ect. Im personally a very hands on person when it comes to my work, so i usually sit in front of the tree i am working with and place both my hands onto it. i then focus on grounding while simultaneously tapping and merging with the trees energies. (some trees are easier to work with than others) i find that they can be good for guidance and support on certain matters. for example if i needed strength i would go find an oak tree. it all really comes down to the tree that you are working with. i hope you find this helpful
The Language of Plants: Plant Spirits Part 1
I have had quite a few people ask me about working with plant spirits, and how I go about interacting with them. This post is how I personally work with them, feedback would be appreciated as I have only really been working with in depth them for about the last 6 months, and boy has it been quite the adventure, I feel like I learn something new every day. I mainly work with the spirits of plants for medicinal, healing, magic and spiritual purposes.
Plant spirits are the vibrational energies and the elemental embodiment of a plant. Each plant has its own unique energetic characteristics, purpose, specific qualities and personality. I have found that no two plant spirits of a species are exactly the same, they all vary slightly.
The key to working with plant spirits is to establish a connection with the plant. Once that is done, the plant spirits can teach you and reveal the many gifts that can come from working with them. There are a variety of ways to go about connecting with the spirits. You don’t need to be gifted or sensitive to energies, or inherently knowledgeable about plants or nature to begin working with and receiving their benefits. But what you do need is to come into your work with both an open mind and heart along with the desire to learn and grow.
When I decide its time to focus on a specific plant I will go into the woods, garden, or field where the plant is located, I then sit and spend time with the plant that I have chosen to work with. While there I study and observe it in great detail, thinking about it's purpose and how it interacts with the surrounding environment. Once I feel that I have some understanding of the plant, I will take a small cutting of the plant and meditate with it. Sometimes I do this a few times before I feel that I have really formed a connection with the engines and spirit of the plant.
But the way that I have found to be the most effective, when it comes to forming a relationship. Is by taking the time and effort to work with the plants themselves. Because when you develop a relationship with your plants, things will happen, they will open up, they begin to speak to you, and you will begin to learn.
The way I really began to work with the spirits was by working with them in a variety of methods, mainly a mix between medicinal and spiritual. I will carefully harvest and collect them and begin preparing them for whatever use they are intended for.
When working with plants keep in mind that you must always treat them with respect, they are your allies and deserve to be treated as so. The way that you decide to handle and consult the spirits of the plants will greatly affect you work. Their spirits are knowing and can respond to our actions and intentions. If we treat them with love, respect, and gratitude they will flourish and grow, but if treated poorly their spirits will wither and die, leaving us.
This concludes part one.

Earth Worker
Earth working is the label that i have given my path of spirituality. i have had a few people ask me about it now so i guess its time for me to try and define it. bear with me im not very good and explaining things, especially something that is so personal for me as this.
Earth Working is what its name entails, it means to Worker of the Earth, or Working From the Earth. Earth working somewhat shamanic in nature, and includes practices of nature-based and earth oriented witchcraft. Earth Working is a heavily Earth-based form of spirituality
The goal of Earth Working is to work with and understand the cyclic flow of the energizes of the earth to move towards an understanding of the natural world that surrounds us both spiritually and scientifically. to do so requires a lot of research, time, knowledge, field work, practice and patience.
and when i say the natural world, i mean the whole natural world. Mother nature may seem beautiful, tranquil and loving but she is a fickle mistress if you let your guard down at the wrong time she will kill you, and thats just the way things work. it is about life, death, decay and survival of the fittest in many aspects.
Now that i am past that i can talk more about Earth Working as it is for me.
Earth Working incorporates forming a connection and collaborating with the world around you in order to understand it. whether it be mountains, plains, valleys, the ocean, rivers the woods ect, you can always learn something from the world around you.
Right now i have been heavily focussing on working with the woods and fields that surround me. i have been studying the earth, trees, plants, rocks, herbs, and flowers and consulting and harvesting them for both their medicinal and magical value. I mostly grow my own herbs or Wildcraft them. i have been spending much of this summer harvesting, drying them and studying herbal medicine. (post on singing to plants while harvesting)
I go out into the woods and just explore and connect with it. every now and then i will find a place amongst the safety of the trees and mediate. i take time to try to link with the spirits of what surrounds me. i acknowledge the spirit of the earth, elements and a series of spirits. Usually, the spirits of nature, and the dead such as animals. i incorporate these spirits along with, herbs, stones, bones, feathers, crystals, flowers and found objects from nature into my craft. I personally try to find the potential for life and growth in everything. for example i have met very few people who can look at a rotting carcass and appreciate and be as fascinated with it as much as i am.
as of now this is the best description i can come up with for Earth Working, its actually a lot more tame of a description than i was expecting. however i will elaborate on it more in the future. thoughts and feedback are welcome :3
