So, as some of you know, I have been learning how to create my goddesses with earthen clay (kiln fired). I've been learning one on one with a well seasoned clay artist locally @susangibbs46 🌿 I've had to take a break since summer started, and the kids were out of school. My goal this year is to learn enough to do it on my own, and to purchase a kiln! This pic is the first Goddess I made, last year. I've learned a lot since then, about glazes and such. She will be my special earth goddess, to show me daily how far I've come, and to give me encouragement to go even further! I have made other goddesses and sculptures in this medium, and will share those when I'm ready to release my FIRST collection of ceramic items! Week 3 | Ceramics Elective

This week for my research in the ceramics elective , tutor Mary Conroy recommended this book in helping to undestand the place of ceramics in terms of sculpture. There are many intersting ceramicists in this book, above I mentioned just 4 that interested me firstly by their result they achieved visually with clay but secondly the wide and various processes of how they are working with clay to achieve their results.

For example, Brie Ruais uses her body to measure, gauge and apply her technique to the material. She displays a less investigated process of using all her body to create art, I like the approach of this from a sculptural point of view, viewing the body as a piece of sculpture adding value to the creative process and in terms of the MOVEMENT brief, it is another way of how we bring movement into our art.
