The scratch of pencil against journal paper filled the night air as the elezen gazed up at the stars. Pointing upward, he moved closer to Nhuji so his hand was in the correct perspective. Tracing along the sky, he pointed back down tho his book.
“Tis mine belief that this cluster is a constellation.” Flipping back his journal a few pages, Urianger pushed the hair out of his face, “Dost thou see? Tis the selfsame pattern as a moon ago.” Before everything else had happened, of course. Before the sky had turned blood red with the temporal anomaly he had been trapped in. Before he had held Nhuji’s hand as they floundered helplessly at the end of two worlds at once.
But now the sky was clear, the moon was full. And he found himself laying back on the grass as quickly as he had sat up, else he stare into the eyes of the Warrior of Light for far too long than he could bear at that moment.
“Tis breathtaking.” His chest tightened as he considered just what he had been speaking of. “’Twixt and ‘tween the threads of fate thine tale continueth. ‘Nother world, ‘nother dimension and yet thine fortitude - and aptitude - remaineth.”
“The stars offereth little in the way of guidance, and yet mine comfort lies with them nonetheless. Patterns differ under the grandeur of thine journey, yet patterns hath been found. Divineth ‘neath one sky or another...Tis ordered.”
Swallowing, he continued to stare up at the stares, golden eyes observing as his face fell for a moment. They were lucky to share the night sky like this. They were lucky to be able to. What if he were a different Urianger? While he would have no recollection of Nhuji himself, would he still feel the selfsame hand gripping his heart in its palm and squeezing? Would he feel the same fear? The same feeling creeping up his throat and threatening to spill out? Would they have had the same agreement - no secrets. Would he have been forgiven, or abandoned on the shore...
“...Tis not why I asked thee out here. If thou wouldst permit me speak...Thou needst not speaketh in response, and thou canst walk away if thou shalt prefer, after.”
