Earworks 1
You may have noticed I've been mulling over pointy ears for a while. I figured it'd be fun if they were used for direct signaling (instead of just being decorational, many of the artist I've come across treats them like that). Pretty soon the placement on the head became a problem - there's a limit to the rotation of an ear, which makes aggressive positions problematic. As you can see on the heads with ears on humanoid level, aggressive ears go "pwoINT!" instead of "GRRRRRR!", or you have to imagine extra muscles in the ears to drag them down. This is just a quick sketch - I'll surf around the 'net to see if other artists have worked on this, and do some studies of cats', dogs' and horses' ears.
(Horses tend to fold their ears back when it rains - hence "don't like it when it rains in my ears". There are few more miserable things than a horse in a rainstorm.)
