(a poem about the Easter angel stained glass window that’s now a tattoo of mine)

my angel imprisoned there in the glass in vibrant color but true color is only found in dreams

versicolored wings:       of gold and crimson       of sunshine and maroon       of ochre and blood       of teddy bear and fired brick.

traditionalist face:       an aquiline nose       thin arched eyebrows              above two wideset eyes              of fairest brown       small plump lips             of earthy pink       not quite square jawline       and locks of red kissed             and gold caressed             braided brown hair.

iridescent white robes:        of teal and green       of cerulean and indigo       of lavender and maroon       of peach and blush       of sand and twelve karat gold       all accents on the saintly white       folding carefree here and thererippling like silk,       but truly of rustic cotton       many times washed.

arms extended:       one hand raised             a finger protruding,             pointing to heaven       the other extended             lowly, palm up             welcoming the denizens of earth.

my angel whom i see in dreams who is portrayed in the window seated on a rock there with blue flame lilies roses made of ash and sunset shaded snapdragons all around her permanent rest
