Spring is the perfect time to plant sunflower seeds on the farm so they bloom beautifully in the early fall. The only problem is, to plow the fields, you’ve gotta pick out the stones to avoid damaging your equipment. Luckily, there’s an easy solution to this: an Easter egg hunt.
Every year, you and Curtis pair up with the community center and spread eggs through the sunflower fields, giving a prize to the kid who can pick up the most rocks along with the eggs in their basket.
With Bucky on the farm, too, it was great to have another set of hands. Or…more like, another set of paws?
“Do I really have to do this? What about Curtis, doesn’t he usually?” Bucky questioned, muffled behind a bunny mascot costume. You were standing over his shoulder, looking with him at the image in the mirror and trying to hold back your laugh.
“Well Curtis has to help supervise the kids for the hunt. Plus, I think a few of them were getting suspicious he was under those ears since they never saw him on Easter. This could hold them off for another year.”
You continued to look Bucky over, yellow glasses, blue vest, bunny ears and all. “It’s really not that bad. All you have to do is sit there while kids take a picture with you. You don’t even have to smile!”
He turned towards you and you pointed a finger against his chest. “Just no swearing. Or grumbling.”
Bucky sighed, shoulders falling and head cocking to the side in slight exasperation. “Okay, whatever, let’s just get this over with.”
YN, Dean, Sam, and Cas were in the bunker shooting the shit, when YN brought up the idea that they should do something festive for Easter. Cas chimed in the origin of Easter and the Resurrection of Christ and no one really cared seeing how Chuck was in fact God, he had a sister, and no one had met this Jesus…yet.
“Let’s color eggs,” YN enthusiastically suggested and Sam groaned.
“We’re too old for that nonsense,” he rolled his eyes.
“You know, you also believed in the Easter Bunny til you were 12,” Dean looked up at his younger brother, matter of factly, “so who’s too old now?”
“Fine, I’ll boil the eggs, Cas you mind zappin’ somewhere to get egg coloring kits?” Sam asked.
Flutter of wings and Cas returned with four packages of egg dye, white vinegar, and began to pop out the corrugated forms to dry the eggs. After the eggs were boiled and cooled, everyone got to decorating.
Which was the problem.
Everyone was drawing angel sigils, devil’s traps, warding sigils, protection charms, anything they could relate to their hunts. Nothing Christian like at all.
“You lot need to get out more,” Crowley poofed into the bunker and YN tossed him an egg designed with a Devil’s Trap. He caught it flawlessly, no cracking, and then went to move and it was as if he hit an invisible wall.
Sam and Dean guffawed while YN fist pumped the air. Cas just smirked.
“Bloody eggs,” he muttered, cracked the egg in his palm, and walked towards the table, wiping the yolk down his suited pant leg.
“Brilliant, Pet,” he sat next to YN as she handed him one to design.
“Trust me with this, do you,” he winked and she shuddered, “I’ve got a demon banishing one right here, Pal, don’t think about it.”
The shelves at the store are stocked full, everything is 50% off. You move from aisle to aisle, everything is the same.
You see adults giving children chocolates, small bites to stave off their hunger. But the children come back for more, and more, and more.
Its all over your house, melted chocolate sprinkled on tables, chairs, and bedsheets. There’s some on your upper arm, you don’t know how it got there.
There’s a chocolate rabbit in your mailbox, you take it out and bring it inside. Someone rings your doorbell and there’s another in your mailbox, the cycle repeats all day.
Rustling and the patter of small feet entered his ears. Yet he saw only darkness,so where was this sound coming from? He was immediately awoken by a sudden sound of something being placed beside him. “AHH!Wha-who,what,when,where!!” He he darted his head back and forth to find his helmet still beside him,but tilted over to hold something. That something had just so happened to be,colorful eggs.
It took him a moment process all this as he groan and rested his head back against the burn fallen tree. He was still out there in the ‘battlefield of giants’,but slightly rested now considering he was out for awhile. He must have drifted off into sleep at some point. His rifle and machine gun laid rested beside him.,he remembered that after awhile it went silent, then giants abruptly scattered off.
After that,it was all a blur, yet here he was now, holding his head with one gauntlet while staring at a small clutch of colorful Easter eggs....damn he was hungry. It been now three days for sure without food. That being said eating a raw colored egg wouldn’t be an issue, get the nutrition out the shell while he was at it.
He reached over and grasped one of the colorful little eggs from within his helmet,then- Crunch! “Holle-shed!”, he said with a mouth full before swallowing his first bite. “It’s..It’s chocolate!! Heh..just like Aunt Anna’s chocolate chip cookies she made awhile back..” He smiled softly as he continued to take one bite after other with all three of the eggs. The soldier savoring this little care package he was provided,oh how it brought back such memories of the war. Happy memories that is,how he and the troops received gifts from home...well they did...he didn’t have anyone at the time, least not till after Wonderland when that all changed.
He saw there were few more eggs so he decided he’ll save those to give one each to his nephews and nieces, hopefully find more for his siblings. For now,he just wanted to enjoy this moment rest in memory. Even if it was out in foul smelling battlefield of post conflict with giants and now gathering of crows and scavengers to the carnage. He didn’t care though,it’s Easter day, make the most of it. For him,the survivors, his family here and back in Wonderland and especially to his friends and the troops back on Earth.
When they were growing up, Yang hid Easter eggs for Ruby to find. Because Taiyang was too distant and Summer had always hidden for Yang, but had died just before she could hide eggs for Ruby. And the first year after Summer’s death, Taiyang didn’t hide eggs, just gave Yang a little money for candy. And though Yang looked and looked and looked, there were no Easter eggs in the garden.
So the next year, Yang crept around in the dark, tears still in her eyes, hiding little plastic eggs under bushes and behind rocks. Next morning, she got to watch while Ruby found all the eggs one by one, and split her little finds with Yang.
A few years later, Ruby told Yang that their mother was alive, she was hiding eggs in the garden every year, their mother was the Easter bunny! And Ruby wanted Yang to stay up with her so they could see their mother one more time.
And Yang had a choice. She could admit she was the Easter Bunny, and take a little bit of magic and hope out of Ruby’s world, or she could play along, stay up with Ruby, knowing that Summer wasn’t coming, and watch her sister’s hope die all over again.

Summary:
Just my edition of Easter family fluff back on Baker Street. I wasn't too sure where this would go, but this is it.
Eve was sitting in her room writing up a report when she felt a tingling on her head she looked in the mirror to see her ears begin to disappear. "Finally they are gone." She gave a sigh of relief.
