Comfort zones and gravel burn

It’s 2005. I am in a small Aboriginal community called Yiyili   in the West Kimberley on a job for the Film and Television Institute. I am relatively naïve , having only visited and worked in a handful of remote communities. My job over the next five days is to manage the production of three short films in consultation with the community. I’ve met with the Elders and mapped the resources on offer. Now it is dusk and perfect to experience a Kimberley sunset after a lengthy drive with my crew from Broome.

2017 has been a huge year for my photography and me! Workshops in Broome, Cape Leveque, Christmas Island and Cairns. Naturalist on the Kimberley Coast with a great crew of people on the Kimberley Quest. Trips into the heart of the Kimberley to capture the Milkyway with my favourite tree. Waterfalls helicopter flight over the East Kimberley during one of the biggest wet seasons in years. And my proud moment of being named 2017 AIPP WA Science Wildlife and Wildplaces Professional Photographer of the Year. What a year!
