Miraculous Ladybug Crawl

I couldn’t find a word crawl for my current guilty pleasure show, so I spent way too long procrastinating my actual word count to make my own c: Enjoy, and leave a comment if you do it!

MIRACULOUS LADYBUG CRAWL

It’s time to wake up and go to school at Collège Françoise Dupont! Roll a dice to determine what time you wake up.

1, 2, or 3: No! You slept through your alarm! Write 250 words in 5 minutes to run to class and get there on time. If you fail, Miss Bustier makes you write another 100 words as a punishment for being tardy.

4, 5, or 6: Nice! You woke up with time to spare. Write a nice 100 words to get ready for the day before heading to class.

When you get to class, Alya reminds you that you have a gift to give Adrien for his fifth name’s day! Write 100 words to motivate yourself to try to give it to him.

Gift in hand, Alya pushes you towards Adrien to give it to him. Write 400 words in 10 minutes to succesfully give it to him. If you succeed, he thanks you and calls you an amazing friend for remembering! If you fail, Laila takes all the credit for the gift. Write another 75 words to calm yourself down.

Laila begins talking all about her trip to New York City that she took over the weekend. Alix is confused, saying she saw Laila grabbing a coffee while she was rollerblading in the park on Saturday. Laila tries to defend herself, but quickly gets caught in the lie. Humiliated, Laila gets akumatized!

Sprint for 5 minutes to run and hide so you can change into Ladybug! Tikki, spots on!

Where is Chat Noir? This akumatized victim is too hard to fight alone. Round out your word count to the next thousand to keep Laila distracted while you wait for Chat Noir to appear.

Better late than never, Kitty, but it still looks like you’re gonna need backup for this one. It’s time to call on an ally to take on another Miraculous. Find someone to do a 15 minute word war with!

With an extra ally by your side, this fight is going smoothly, but you still have one last trick up your sleeve. Lucky Charm! Roll a die, multiply your roll by 200, and write that many words to put the clues together and figure out how to use your Lucky Charm.

You’ve released the Akuma and saved Laila. It’s time to de-evilize! Write 150 words to purify the Akuma and release the resulting butterfly back into the wild. Bye bye little butterfly!

Miraculous Ladybug! Sprint for 10 minutes to fix all the damage the Akumatized victim caused and to set everything right again.

Pound It! It’s time to collect the Miraculous you lent out. Word war with a friend for 5 minutes to retrieve it.

Your earrings are beeping, which means you have to get to cover before you detransform! You have 45 seconds to hide and round your word count up to the next hundred. If you fail, write 400 words to ensure no one saw you!

Phew! That was a close one. Write 75 words to run back to class before anyone notices you were missing.

Alya asks where you’ve been because you missed all the action she just filmed for the Lady Blog! Write 300 words to craft up a believable excuse.

School is out for the rest of the day because of the Akuma attack. Sprint 200 words to walk home and take a nap after that crazy day!

Museums of Boston Word Crawl

Welcome to to the Museums of Boston Word Crawl!

Boston is absolutely chockful of excellent museums, as as a resident I’ve even managed to go to a couple of them! This crawl is aimed at those who want a short and relatively low intensity crawl - something to just get them started on a long day of writing, or conversely to just meet their daily word count. For a boost to your word count, visit all the exhibits at the MFA. Enjoy!

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum First up we start with quite a unique little museum, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Famous for an unsolved robbery in the 1990s, founder Gardner’s stipulations have meant that the empty frames are still hanging on the walls. Write 100 words as you contemplate the theft.

The Museum of Fine Arts The MFA is a vast museum with much to see, but you are low on time and can only pick one collection to visit! Choose one of the galleries below.

Art of the Americas: Write 400 words as you acquaint yourself with Boston history through Copley’s portrait of Paul Revere.

Art of Ancient Egypt, Nubia, and the Near East: Write for fifteen minutes as you admire the statue of King Menkaura and Queen.

Art of Europe: Do a three digit challenge as you visit the thirty-five paintings painted by Claude Monet that are housed in the MFA, the largest such collection outside France.

The Museum of Science Now we are shifting academic tracks with a visit to the Museum of Science! Spanning the Charles River, this museum houses the Gilliland Observatory and a plethora of animal exhibits. Write to the nearest 500 as you say hi to the triceratops Cliff.

Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum Immerse yourself in Boston’s history by visiting this interactive museum, where your host Samuel Adams teaches you all about the Boston Tea Party. Write for ten minutes as you throw a parcel of tea overboard into the harbour!

The Boston Children’s Museum Conclude your tour of Boston’s museums in the nearby Children’s Museum, where you can visit with dinosaurs, explore a construction zone, and make art. Write for fifteen minutes as you wander around the Japanese House.

Bonus: Hood Milk Bottle Built in 1930 as an advertisement for an ice cream store, the iconic Hood Milk Bottle was donated to the Boston Children’s Museum in 1970 and is currently used as an ice cream stand. Write 50 words as you get a cone for yourself.

Splatoon Word Crawl

Hello! Here’s a Splatoon Writing Crawl for people who like Splatoon! I hope you guys enjoy it.

You press ZL and ZR and you watch the news. If you’re the type to spam the A button through Callie and Marie’s/Pearl and Marina’s chit-chat, do a 15 minute-sprint and try to get 100 words or more. If you enjoy listening to the newcasters, then do a 20-minute sprint and try to get 200 words or more. After that, head to the lobby and select your game mode:

Turf War: Do a word war for 15 minutes and try to get 100 words or more: if you don’t, keep rematching until you get it!

Turf War with Friends: War with a couple of friends with the same goal and time as above!

Private Battle: Invite someone from PMs, or a NaNo buddy to do a word war for 15 minutes, and try to get 100 words or more.

Ranked Battle: Check what mode your Ranked Battle is on. If it’s Splat Zones, do a 15-minute word war and try to fill up 5 pages. If the mode is Tower Control, do a 15-minute word war. If it’s Rainmaker, try to get 60 words or more during a 15 minute word-war. Finally, if Clam Blitz is your mode, do a 10 minute word war and try to pass 50 words.

Ranked Squad Battle: Gather four people and try to get 100 words or more in 20 minutes. If you don’t hit your goal during the time frame, then your game goes into overtime! You get an extra 10 minutes to hit your goal.

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir Crawl

You’re a new kid in school. Yay. sarcasm. Write 100 words as you get ready for school.

You barely get to school before there is an akuma attack! You are very confused at this weird thing that is happening. Write 200 words while Alya explains what’s going on.

Marinette sneaks out while Mme. Bustier is telling everyone to stay calm. You are very suspicious, and you try to decide whether or not to follow her. Do a 15-minute sprint or word war.

If you get under 400 words, you try to go, but Alya sees you. Write an extra 200 words to convince Alya that you have to go to the restroom.

If you get over 400, you sneak out after her and no one sees you.

In either case, you follow Marinette downstairs and OMG! Marinette says, “Spots on” and transforms into Ladybug! You’ve heard about her even outside of Paris. She runs outside and you follow her. She swings away on her yoyo and you try to convince a cyclist to let you borrow their bike. Write 100 words as quick as you can!

The cyclist finally relents and you speed after Ladybug. You catch up to her just as she meets up with Chat Noir. Do the three-digit challenge and try to incorporate a pun of some kind, because, you know, it’s Chat Noir. He’s the pun master.

The akuma is called NaNoWriMonster. He’s a writer participating in NaNoWriMo and he’s frustrated because his characters keep rebelling. You can relate.

Ladybug and Chat fight with NaNoWriMonster for a few minutes before Ladybug decides to do Lucky Charm. You hear her say “A typewriter? What am I supposed to do with this?” Write 200 words as they try to figure it out.

Ding! A lightbulb goes off in your head. What if… you think. To test your theory, you grab a piece of paper and pull your pencil from behind your ear. Write 10 words.

The akuma looks at you, but instead of trying to kill you, he smiles and takes a deep breath, like he’s refreshed. Chat runs towards you. “What did you just do?” he demands. Write 30 words to tell him your idea: the monster is calmed down by words!

Ladybug is still trying to figure out the typewriter as she retreats away from the monster. Chat Noir calls her over to you. The three of you run inside a nearby building. You and Chat tell her your idea (another 30 words).

They two of them look really panicked! Neither of them are very good writers. Quickly, you tell them that you are! The are relieved, but Ladybug isn’t sure they can rely on you without a little evidence. To prove to them that you are a writer, you rattle off a quick 150 words. While you do this, Ladybug runs off because her earrings are beeping, then she comes right back after feeding Tikki.

They are convinced by your writerly-ness, and the three of you go back out to face the monster. Ladybug hands you the typewriter. Do a ten-minute word war 1 or sprint.

If you get under 500 words: oh no! The monster is still coming! Do another one! **If you got less than 300 words, keep going until you reach the nearest 100. **If you got more than 300 words, you’re safe!

If you got over 500 words: yay the monster is super calm now!

Either way, NaNoWriMonster is asleep! Ladybug grabs the akumatized object (a pen) and breaks it. No more evil-doing for you, little akuma! Bye-bye, little butterfly!

Then she yells “MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!” and everything goes back to normal, except for the papers you typed up with the typewriter, which you get to keep as a souvenir. Save your work. Right now. Seriously, save your work.

Ladybug and Chat thank you profusely for helping them. Write 200 words. Bonus: include another pun, because Hawkmoth is definitely doing it too!

Out of curiosity, you decide to follow Chat Noir away from the scene this time, instead of Ladybug. He leads you…back to school? Without looking to see if anyone is watching, he de-transforms into…Adrien Agreste?! The famous model?! What you don’t realize is that you are now the only person in Paris besides Master Fu who knows both of the superheroes’ identities!

You let out a gasp of surprise. Adrien doesn’t seem to notice, but Plagg does. He quickly alerts Adrien. Write 150 words as you promise Adrien that you won’t tell anyone.

The two of you go back into the classroom. Do a 2-minute sprint to make up an excuse for the teacher.

If you get under 100 words, Mme. Bustier is unconvinced. Quick, do it again! ** If you get less than fifty, go to the principal’s office! Luckily, Principal Damocles is easier to convince than Mme. Bustier. You and Adrien go back to the class. ** If you get over fifty, you manage to convince her.

If you get over 100 words, you’re fine.

Go watch an episode of Miraculous. Pay attention to the plot! Now write stuff according to these criteria:

Who caused the akuma? ** If Chloe causes the akuma, 50 words. ** If it was Marinette, Alya, Adrien, or Nino, 100 words. ** Anyone else in the class or parents of students, 150 words ** Anyone else, or more than one person caused it, 200 words

Black Friday Musical Crawl

PROLOGUE Welcome to Starkid’s spookiest musical! It’s so dark that it warrants its own prologue which, though short, is very creepy. Write for five minutes (the number of ticks of the clock there are before the music kicks in) to get you warmed up for the straight bops that are coming your way.

TICKLE-ME WIGGLY JINGLE Ahoy there, boys and girls! You know that you need a Tickle-Me Wiggly! He’s a wiggly wig and a snuggle poo! He wuvs you! He’s laundry safe! And he’s a steal for only $49.95! Sprint to the nearest 500 whilst you desperately try to save up for a Tickle-Me Wiggly doll! Wiggle your way through life!

WHAT TIM WANTS Tom will do anything for Tim. After all, he’s his son. Does your protagonist have a child in their life that they need to protect? How about a best friend, a sibling, or other loved one? What’s their name? Count up the number of letters in their name and write for that amount of minutes!

CALIFORM.I.A We get it, Ethan. You’re a good speller! Don’t worry about spelling, punctuation, or any of the rubbish that Ethan cares about. Attempt a fifty headed hydra as you hype yourself up for your escape to California!

WHAT DO YOU SAY? Is that Becky Barnes? And Tom Houston? Get ready for an intense gossip with the citizens of Hatchetfield and write three hundred words. If you, like Tom and Becky, can’t think of what to say and you’re experiencing a bout of writer’s block, try to incorporate a scene with a gossip chain like the one in the queue for ToyZone.

OUR DOORS ARE OPEN Welcome to ToyZone! We know that you want a Tickle-Me Wiggly, but I’m afraid you’re going to have to pay up first. Sprint for fifteen minutes as Frank sings about all the money he’s about to get. These words are weighing his pants down!

FEAST OR FAMINE The bidding war for a Tickle-Me Wiggly has suddenly gotten very brutal. Sprint for twice the length of the song (6 minutes) to find out if you got one! If you wrote less than 250 words, chaos reigns! You don’t manage to get your hands on a Wiggly! Write another 250 as you sob uncontrollably. If you wrote more than 250 words, take what you want, return what you get! Well done, you got a Wiggly! Write 100 words as you celebrate and plan what you’re going to do with your new fwendy wend.

MONSTERS AND MEN General McNamara is back! Thank God, he is exactly what this world needs to defeat the dark force that Howie Goodman has come to know as Wiggly. Write until the next mention of your story’s main villain (or villainous situation!)

DECK THE HALLS (OF NORTHVILLE HIGH SCHOOL) Okay, this is kind of a good movie… Take a ten minute break and grab a snack as you watch Santa Claus is Going to High School at the movie theatre!

TAKE ME BACK Take me back in time… to when I knew what was going on in this draft. Write two hundred words as Becky and Tom figure out their feelings for each other.

ADORE ME You will destroy everything, and then you will destroy everything. Keep writing! Go for a ten minute word war as you try your best to resist against Linda Munroe and her cult, sorry, exciting new religion.

DO YOU WANT TO PLAY? Write 150 words as you try to hide from Becky and Tom… Seriously? I thought we liked these guys two songs ago?

MADE IN AMERICA This is a FULL bop. I genuinely can’t expect you to write through this song. Have a dance break

BLACK FRIDAY You’ve been caught by Sherman and he’s about to kill you. Write for fifteen minutes as you contemplate your life and what (or who) you’re going to leave behind.

MONSTERS AND MEN (REPRISE) Reach into the black and white! You must manifest these words into your reality! Take part in a three digit challenge as you escape from Sherman!

IF I FAIL YOU This doll is kinda ugly! Attempt a 1k30min as you finally come out from Wiggly’s spell. If you succeed, congratulations! Grab a drink (check for goo first!) and celebrate! If you fail, get ready for a punishment that won’t match the crime. Keep writing until you hit the nearest thousand.

WIGGLE Get ready to defeat Linda and Wiggly and their group of worshipping shoppers. Participate in a ten minute word war and try to ignore the uncomfortable moans!

WHAT IF TOMORROW COMES? Do you all see what I see? It’s you, closer to finishing your novel! Congratulations, but it’s not over yet. Quick! Sprint to 500 words before that… bang happens.

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals Crawl

Welcome to the The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals Crawl 5! I love Starkid musicals so much, and as a way of passing the time until Black Friday and procrastinating writing my novel, I’ve made a crawl for TGWDLM. I’m not a massive fan of huge crawl challenges, so this is a bit of a shorter one. You should get around 5000 words by completing this crawl, depending on your writing speed. I hope you enjoy, and let me know if you want any more Starkid crawls in the future!

THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS 10 The greatest stories ever told have a hero who must be bold! Take your protagonist’s full name and count how many letters are in it. Sprint for that number of minutes. (If you have more than one protagonist, choose one or, if you love pain, sprint for the number of minutes all protagonists’ names make when they’re put together!)

LA DEE DAH DAH DAY 5 Friends, something’s afoot. Why is everyone singing? Run away from this insane flash mob by attempting a Fifty-Headed-Hydra. If you manage over 250 words, congratulations! You escaped! If you didn’t, whoops, sorry. I guess it was your time to become an all-singing, all-dancing zombie. But don’t worry! Write another 100 words and I’m sure you’ll be alright!

WHAT DO YOU WANT, PAUL? 10 What is your character’s one concrete goal that motivates their actions? Do you know? If you do, good job! Mr Davidson’s proud of you! Write for five minutes to celebrate! If you don’t, wHAT? How is anyone supposed to sympathise with you? Write for ten minutes as you go to fetch Mr Davidson a nice caramel frap to make him feel better.

CUP OF ROASTED COFFEE 3 Get your cup of roasted coffee! Take a break to grab a beverage of your choice!

CUP OF POISONED COFFEE Did you get a drink? Well, you shouldn’t have. Look inside your cup, it’s full of blue goo! Write to the nearest multiple of 500 to stop the apotheosis from taking ahold of you!

SHOW ME YOUR HANDS 1 Step away from the vehicle. Step away from the vehicle. Get back in the vehicle. Get back in the vehicle. Slowly get out of the vehicle. Slowly get out of the vehicle. Write 75 words as fast as you can. Do the things I say, I’m a cop.

YOU TIED UP MY HEART Oh no… You just heard Sam say “Charlotte, baby… Apple of my AEYE. Don’t you twust me?” And it made you physically sick. Write for ten minutes as you try to forget about it.

JOIN US AND DIE 1 It is time… to WRIIIIIIIIIIIITEEEE! Sprint as fast as you possibly can for the duration of this song (that’s only 1:52!) if you don’t feel as frazzled as Ted looks during this number, you’re doing it wrong.

NOT YOUR SEED You left your word count goal out of your sight for one second and look what happens: Nightmare Time! Participate in a Three Digit Challenge as you try your hardest to convince Alice to break out of it and come back to Professor Hidgens’ castle where she’ll be safe from Deb and the Hatchetfield Bee.

SHOW STOPPIN’ NUMBER You reckon that you don’t have time to listen to the opening number of Workin’ Boys: A New Musical, but Ted’s all for it. Write 350 words (the number of Workin’ Boys x50) as you realise it’s highkey a bop.

AMERICA IS GREAT AGAIN Ah, great. We’re down to just Paul and Emma. Sprint for 15 minutes as you run away from General McNamara and the zombie army to get to the chopper.

LET HIM COME Did you hear the word? What’s the word? It’s a-coming! What’s a-coming? Your novel’s a-coming! Finish the paragraph you’re writing and take a quick reprieve to relish in how proud you’re going to feel once you reach your goal at the end of the month!

LET IT OUT Was that a note, or just a sound? Try a #1k30mins as you fight off the urge to sing out so that you can save the world! If you succeed, congratulations! You were luckier than Paul! If you didn’t, watch out because Bill’s coming to kick your head. Write 100 more words as you fight him off.

INEVITABLE 1 Let’s be honest, I’ve not got a cool sounding comment for this song because I get extremely emotional about it. Write 200 words through your tears and console yourself by remembering that you can see Paul in the Kickstarter video for Black Friday. 4

Workout Crawl

Many of you may be stuck inside this month, but that’s no reason not to flex your muscles, both creative and physical. This word crawl combines both, for the ultimate writing experience. There are two ways to do this crawl: either do the exercises suggested by each step and do the writing, or just do the writing.

Start with a warmup. Write for 5 minutes. Do some jumping jacks if you’re feeling it.

Don’t forget to stretch. Take your total from the five minute warmup and stretch yourself by trying to beat that total.

Cardio is vital! Get your heart pumping by writing an exciting scene. Write 300 words as fast as you can.

You’re getting stronger already. Do some push-ups to improve your upper body strength. Either count how many push-ups you can do in a minute or roll a die. Multiply that number by 100 and write that many words.

Really push yourself and dig deep. Attempt a 50-headed hydra. If you succeed, pat yourself on the back and write 200 more words. If you don’t hit 500, write another 500 words as training for next time.

Dance aerobics are a fun way to get yourself moving! Put on your favorite song to dance to and sprint to the end!

Don’t forget about your core. Write for 20 minutes and do an abs circuit

Do some squats. Strengthen your word total with 300 more words.

Challenge a friend to a race! Do a 10 minute word war against someone. If you win, write 150 words. If you lose, write 450.

Cool down with a brisk walk. Write 300 words.
