"What client does EasyOffice use to send out E-Mail?"
EasyWord, EasyContactManager, EasySpreadsheet and any other EasyOffice programs that sends out e-mails, requires a MAPI-compliant e-mail already installed on your computer. (The standard "Simple MAPI" must be used. As well, the e-mail program must be configured to be the default e-mail program -- "default MAPI client".)
If you have Internet Explorer 5+ installed (our CD-ROM will do it automatically if you don't), then you have Outlook Express, then you already have a MAPI-compliant e-mail program. If you use Microsoft Outlook, it too is MAPI compliant, and will work fine.
In the future, EasyOffice may use its own e-mail driver, but for the present time, we use the MAPI-compliant e-mail program present on your computer.
"What is 'MAPI' ?"
MAPI is a standard interface (Mail Applications Program Interface) to allow a Windows program talk to the e-mail program.
EasyOffice requires that the "Simple MAPI" interface be used by the e-mail program and that the e-mail program is configured to be the default e-mail program ("default MAPI client") on that computer.
"I have Outlook Express on my computer, yet EasyOffice cannot use it to send out e-mails. Why?"
Outlook Express may not be set up as your default e-mail program. Often, in such cases, the user has installed another (non-MAPI compliant) e-mail program on their computer, which has been set up as the default e-mail program.
A number of users have reported to us that in cases where Outlook Express was indeed suppose to be the default e-mail program, re-installing Outlook Express and/or EasyOffice resolved the problem.
"I have AOL version 6 on my computer, yet EasyOffice cannot use it to send out e-mails. Why?"
AOL version 6.0 is not MAPI-compliant. (However, AOL 7.0 is compliant.)
"Can I use the EasyOffice spelling dictionary to spell-check e-mails I write in Outlook Express?"
Yes. Many users wrote to us and said that they no longer had Microsoft Office on their computer, and as a result Outlook Express would not spellcheck their e-mails. We created EasySpeller and EasyThesaurus for these users. These programs reside on the desktop and in the tray icon. If you want to check spelling while you are in Microsoft Outlook Express, simply click the EasySpeller icon.
(EasySpeller can be used at any time from the desktop, but with regards to integrating with other e-mail programs, is at present, only functionally integrated with Outlook Express, and not other e-mail programs.)
