Search, save, compare and book: easy to book!

This post origins from our company blog and is written by Gigi Picazio. I've reposted it here because I'm well aware not all of you read the easytobook blog. (you should do so, at least when traveling to one of our main destinations covered) I really hope you guys like it, and am interested in feedback or other things you think we should implement - Wouter.

August, for most people, means holidays; for us it means improvements! We all love to travel and we all love to find, in an easy way, the right hotel. That’s why at easytobook.com we are busy every day to improve our website and to give you a better experience, because booking an hotel should be a pleasure, not a challenge, right?

Over the last few months we have worked hard on two aspects:

1 – to give you more choice by increasing our inventory; 2 – to give you tools to make your decision easier.

More choice: yesterday we managed, thanks to a new partnership, to increase our inventory from 50,000 hotels to more than 80,000 hotels worldwide; this means more choice for you in all our main destinations and also in some new destinations.

More tools: Over the last few months we implemented some tools to make your navigation of our website simpler and to make your choice as easy as a walk in the park.

Map navigation

We implemented in our website a map navigation tool that allows you to choose your hotel directly on the map. With just one click you will be able to see where the hotels are located on the map, as well as their star class and the price.

More filtering options

We implemented a helpful and easy to use filter menu on the left of your search result page, where it will be possible for you to filter the result by price, by guest score and by facilities (Internet, parking, pets allowed etc.)

Comparison tool

Last, but not least, the most exciting tool we implemented on our website; the comparison tool! With this tool you will be able to select and save different types of rooms and compare them to see which one is more convenient for you, and you can also share your list with your travel partner or friends to ask for their advice.

But let’s have a closer look to this amazing tool (yes, we are really excited about it!). Let’s say you want to book an hotel in New York; you want to stay in Manhattan in a 3 star hotel with Internet connection and parking. The first step, of course, is to make a search and filter the option with our filter tool:

Now we have our 12 hotels (we have just 12 hotels since I selected this weekend; hotels in New York are quite busy so remember to book always in advance!) and it’s time to make our choice. Usually you have to jump from one hotel page to another, but thanks to the comparison tool you can compare all the hotels you want in one click. Close to the price of the room you see a small “+” sign that allows you to save the room.

Once you save your room it will be added in the comparison tool (you will see the number of the room you have selected in the bottom right of your page).

I selected 5 different room types in 5 different hotels (you can also compare different room types in the same hotel) and it is now time to compare them. When you click the ‘Compare’ button a pop-up will show you all the details about the rooms you have selected, including the guest review score, the location, the facilities etc.

Simply amazing, isn’t it? But this is not all… Usually I don’t travel alone, and when I have to book an hotel of course I want to hear from the people I’ll be travelling with. Before this tool, I had to gather all the links to the hotel pages and then send them via e-mail or Facebook, which was time consuming and awkward. Now, I can easily share my selected hotels with my wife or my friends in one click on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail!
