WebMD has a great little slideshow compiling their top diet tips for healthy eating choices; I really like the above image because of how it simplifies things. Two thumbs up for fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy! It's sometimes helps to be graphically reminded about what constitutes healthy food choices. Incorporating these food choices in ones diet can be tricky for some of us--we all have our challenges--but the trick is to figure out our obstacles and solve them creatively.
Case in point: while I enjoy seafood (especially grilled, wild, pacific salmon), I can't handle how it stinks up my place when I cook it, so I compromise by sticking to canned tuna (but not too often because of the whole 'mercury in tuna' thing) and canned salmon in order to be sure I get fish in my diet semi-regularly without breaking the bank by eating out all the time (mmm, i <3 sashimi).
The benefits to having tins of fish (packed in water, with no salt added) at home include the fact that they are low-fat, high-protein choices that are quick and easy to prepare, versatile, and satisfying (and less smelly, imo). Anything that makes it easier for you to stick to a healthy diet plan should be made a priority on your shopping list and come meal time--try it and see how it can work for you!
