#FridaysAreForFeatures: Alissa Warren is a 25-year-old African-American cook/aspiring chef. As most never knew, her deepest passion is the art of the fork. She attended Herkimer County Community College where she received her associates of science degree and later on completed her studies at Suny Old Westbury where she earned her Bachelors Degree. Her choice of study was Criminology minoring in criminal justice, and like almost every recent graduate, she started to second guess if Law & Order was really her passion. Alissa's cooking experience was born when she was co-chef to pastry chef Alicia Sanchez. From exploring with different pastries, different ingredients, and cultured dishes, Alissa found a creative love with the art of cooking that she has held onto throughout the years. She has consistently prepped meals for her family at home, college roommates and parties and she believes that she may have finally found her niche after all. Alissa aspires to open her first soul food restaurant in the future and name it after her private catering business THE BLACK FORK, dedicated to her sisters and her mother. She has held her FIRST food tasting event #EatandSpeak on August 20th, 2017 - which was also the launch of her private food catering business. For all good inquiries please follow @theblackforknyc & stay tuned for her second food tasting event in collaboration with #DiscoverHerEssence "Food, Booze & Blues" on Saturday, February 10th. 🍴🖤
