Little preview of my fic for the Encanto Big Bang
So @waitingonavision shared hers so I thought "let's share a preview of mine too!" because I thought it could be a good idea. I should have posted it already but we have a new due date and I just can't wait sharing this fic I'm pretty proud of!
Dedicated to my love for my artist who carried me through this story despite the stress I was under during October.

Shocked, the rat-man exclaimed, “West??? No way would we go there!”
“Why? What is in the west?” asked the traveler, worried. Then, yelling at the rat-man, “What did your friend do?”
Offended, the rat-man replied, “What? Why do you ask me as if it’s my fault?”
“Because it’s your friend, you could have plotted something together to lead me further from my goal.”
“First...It’s my friend’s daughter. Then...Why do you think I plotted anything with that cat?”
Said cat joked, “Wow! It’ll be hard to keep this one alive! At least the previous ones who chose to follow you were trusting you with their lives, mi amigo.”
He shrugged. “Not really. They ended up listening to themselves only because, in the end they said, I'm 'only a rat'.”
Barely cooling down, the traveler said, without lowering her suspicion, “How many people have you even guided through the desert toward the treasure?”
“I lost count.” Then, adding with his eyes locked with hers, “But those who died did so because they stopped listening to me. Up to now, the ones who survived only wanted to cross the desert and weren’t looking for the treasure.”
Still smiling, the cat remarked, “A short collaboration then! Hope this one will last longer. Maybe it’s time for you to open up a bit, dear Señor Rata.”
Before he could answer anything, the cat was gone, leaving both of them alone on the stage with dumbfounded faces. Bruno appreciated his sobrina’s ability to sneak in and out of the stage like a cat. They chose well!
Soon enough, the traveler claimed with a sigh, “Let’s go...” following the rat-man, who frowned with a lack of understanding.
In the audience, Jose raised his voice to praise, “You’re doing great Cariño!”
Which made Mirabel answer, “Please don’t interrupt the play.”
Señora Pezmuerto, who had lost her focus, blushed with pride at her husband’s words.
