It had been quite a years but my recollection was that Ebisu was very good. I had a friend in town who was craving sushi so it was a great reason for a return visit! We went on a week night so it wasn't too busy. We could have been seated at a table but we both preferred to sit at the sushi bar. The server came quickly and we ordered a couple of Japanese beers. I had forgotten that they had some interesting house rolls well as standard sushi items. Their menu is quite interesting!! We started with a lemon and chili oil kampachi. It was on the chef's specialty menu. In addition, we ordered a couple of their house rolls, the friar and the feisty jack. The kampachi was delicate and creamy, with the subtle heat from the chili oil. Outstanding quality sushi and a very interesting presentation as well as combination of flavors. Both rolls were excellent as well. I particularly enjoyed the friar roll, which is flash fried after being cut, giving it an extra light crunch! After these were all so good, I had to have just a couple of pieces of sushi before finishing. My current favorites are salmon and eel, so I ordered a pair of each. The eel was light, flaky and the sauce was lightly spiced and delicious! The salmon was creamy, some of the best I had enjoyed in quite awhile!! An overall outstanding experience!! I can't believe I waited so long for a return visit to Ebisu. The quality of the fish and interesting menu are both exceptional!! I would definitely reorder everything that I had, but there is so much else on the menu that I would also want to try. Service is also helpful and efficient. Prices moderate to expensive but considering the awesome overall experience, it still offers great value for price!! Ebisu is a must visit sushi restaurant in a city known for great sushi!!
