Okay, so I love this comic strip, but it requires some explanation.
Yaxkin, on the left, is a Fiend Caste Infernal, aka one of the Chosen of the Ebon Dragon. She is an unrepentant bullshitter and party animal, and so is generally in good standing with her overlizard master.
Rachna, he with the face tattoo, is a Scourge Caste Infernal, aka one of the Chosen of Adorjan, and Celestial counterpart of Anjali, the purple-haired Lunar next to him. He started life as one of our DM’s NPC antagonists toward the end of my first Exalted game, as part of a whole circle of Infernals trying to bring about the opening of Yozi. But then his circle clashed with Anjali’s, he *discovered* Anjali, and immediately changed his allegiances, acting as a double-agent against his own circle. He had two reasons for this:
1. Rachna didn’t really want the Yozi to succeed in the first place. He LIKES Creation the way it is, and really doesn’t want to see it all Yozi-fied.
2. As an Infernal, his shard was never cleaned by Lytek after the First Age, so he has extensive First-Age memories, including of his previous Incarnation’s torrid partnership with his counterpart-- Anjali’s previous Incarnation. He *desperately* wants that back. This might be partly due to his Obsession as a Scourge, but he also just genuinely wants that relationship back-- it was something worth longing for.
So, long story short, the grand finale of the game was Rachna helping our circle break into Yozi, *kill* the Phylactery Womb that houses the unclaimed Infernal shards (which looses all the unclaimed shards and deprives the Yozi of the ability to make more Infernals), and then escape again. Which, as you might imagine, has made him *INCREDIBLY UNPOPULAR* with the Yozi, especially the Ebon Dragon, who was the mastermind behind the Infernal Exalts in the first place. (At the same time, the Ebon Dragon, backstabber extraordinare, recognizes that he was masterfully deceived and backstabbed, and as much as he HATES that, he also approves, because game recognizes game.)
Ever since then, Rachna wisely refuses to set foot in Yozi, for obvious reasons. Meanwhile, the Ebon Dragon has been trying to figure out a way to con Rachna back into Yozi for some payback. Rachna... is not a sucker, however, and likes to rub the Ebon Dragon’s nose in his juicy little bit of sabotage.
Yaxkin thinks this is hilarious... even if dealing with her furious boss afterward isn’t quite as much fun.
