The Crow x Echo 5

Yeah, this young wolf x Crow ship is taking over my life and i’ve made some hcs for my boi Echo and Crow.

How does their relationship begin?

At the beginning it was Wolf and Spire (my Titan and Warlock) who learned of Uldren’s revival, and they keep it from Echo in fear of him going off on a rampage to kill the man again. They knew if he was alive there was only one way it could have happened; Uldren was a Guardian now.

Eventually however Echo finds out on his own after having to rescue Osiris on the moon. It takes all his might not to kill the Prince on sight. But when he sees his ghost, and the Awoken introduces himself as The Crow, something holds Echo back and renders him speechless.

Later on he learns that the man is under the watch of the Spider, someone Echo definitely doesn’t want to mess with. Thus he begins working with Crow much to the Exo’s displeasure. Echo doesn’t say much except vague responses.

He knows Crow’s memories are gone and he doesn’t know about his past self and what he’s done but a part of Echo knows he can’t forgive him. Yet deep down he knows he needs to let it go. The Exo is at a crossroads.

When was the turning point of this relationship?

Echo had been working with Crow for a while now, and everyday questions and assumptions filled the man’s head about the young light bearer. It wasn’t until a certain mission to chase after these strange dreams Crow was having, to try and understand them, that Echo gets to hear a bit of Crow’s life that he never dared to share with anyone. That is until Echo came along.

Hearing Crow tell him his memories about his first Dawning, how he kept the sheet he was laid to rest under, the wine he and the warlock had shared and the broken down ship Crow hid from Spider; Echo was filled with guilt.

This man wasn’t the same person before he died. Maybe appearance wise, and to his core he would be Uldren. . . - well now these were two different people. This is Uldren before the Taken King, before his beloved sister and Queen was murdered, before he was corrupted by Darkness and before a false God manipulated him. . . and before Cayde. This brought Echo to another revelation.

Crow aimed for the same goal that Cayde did - protect the weak and defenseless, prove he was good and had good intentions. He cared, and at some points maybe even too much. He wanted to be better.

The Exo put all of this into perspective - Cayde’s perspective. If he had been here, Echo knew the man would put the whole thing behind him and look the other way, because the man who killed him was gone. Crow was already trying to improve himself, to be better and to learn.

That’s all anyone can ask at this point, from such a dark past. Echo would be there alongside Crow to help him grow and learn, and he wouldn’t be alone.

When did they develop feelings for each other?

I’m thinking maybe a bit later after the Hawkmoon quest. He really opened up to our Guardian, and in my case it was my boy Echo. He didn’t have to hide what he told him like he did the others, the fear of being tattled on and exposed to Spider. Crow trusts Echo so much already that he outright tells his secrets when Echo finds his hiding spot. He’s so relieved that he actually listens when he relives his memories. The Awoken finds himself smiling more and enjoying himself when the other guardian is around, and even his darling Ghost catches on; who could simply miss those puppy eyes Crow was giving Echo every night?

It’s after the realization that Cayde would not kill this man, nor would he want to, but in fact help and guide him to become a better Guardian. So that’s what Echo does. The feelings catch up to him pretty quickly as they work together over the months, watching how innocent Crow is and how distant and scared he can be sometimes; this was a completely different person than the Prince before.

Echo feels many things towards him; a teacher and a student, a role model, a guide. And most importantly: a friend. He’s the only one Crow has, besides Glint of course.

Crow isn’t Uldren, at least not anymore. New and exciting things are going to happen to them, and deep down the Exo is rather excited.

Who fell in love first?

More than likely Crow does. It’s a kind of student falls in love with the teacher, the unexpected crush kind of deal here. Echo doesn’t turn him away like every other person he meets, which gets Crow’s attention almost immediately, like “hey he doesn’t hate and hasn’t tried to kill me yet, I kinda like him.” He catches on quickly.

Who admits their feelings first?

Surprisingly it’s Echo. I’ve pictured this scene in my head a thousand times already.

Another night by the fire they built, and once again Crow is drinking and talking to Glint while Echo tries to sort out what he’s been feeling these past couple of weeks. He’s staring longingly into the fire, glancing at Crow every few minutes and fiddling with his gloves.

Eventually Crow notices how quiet the Exo is and asks him what’s up. It takes Echo a moment but he finally speaks up, and he’s nervous.

Conversation kinda goes like this:

E: Been doing a lot of thinking lately. . . trying to figure out a couple of things, make sense of what’s been happening lately.

C: Like what?

E: Being with you. . . it’s brought up some memories and feelings that I told myself I’d keep tucked away. But they’ve kind of given me answers to my questions and doubts.

There a moment of silence.

E: I had. . . let’s call him a friend, who I was really close with. You remind me of him. He was a little more enthusiastic than you are but. . . he cared about people. A lot, like you do. Cared more about another person than he did himself, and it got him in trouble sometimes. He was selfless and kind. He worked so hard to try and be better, to get stronger so he wouldn’t fail others. He wanted to learn from his mistakes so wouldn’t make them again.”

More silence.

E: What really stood him out from the rest was how forgiving he was, how quickly he put things behind him. He never had any grudges and it blew so many peoples’ minds. ‘Nothing in the past for us now,’ is what he told me. ‘Let’s learn from it and move on.’ I. . . really looked up to him.

Crow is listening intently and pretty soon Echo turns to him.

E: I like you Crow. Maybe more than I should, more than I thought I would . Really wasn’t expecting this after last time.

It leaves Crow speechless for a moment, he himself trying to register all of what he just heard. Eventually though they talk it over by the fire, and by the end of the night they’re shoulder to shoulder, agreeing to take it slow for now.

Who kisses who first?

Probably Echo, but he can’t really kiss since he’s an Exo. There will be enough head and face boops for Crow to eventually get the message, and it will make him so flustered it’s adorable. I imagine at first he’s so confused and Echo just laughs like “I’m kissing you, you twat”. Crow is so shy and flustered he has to hide behind his hood.

So yeaaahhhhhhh. . . I really like this ship, Bungie better do sumthin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE THIS CANON BUNGO

Been grinding Destiny these past few weeks and oh how I have missed my children. Upgraded Echo a lot during that time. My baby grew up 👏
