Went to Roterdam to see a few bands play last night.
Echo Beatty was a solid opener. Normally she’s a 1 woman outfit, but for this tour, she had gotten support from a drummer and a synth/bass player. She said they only practiced together once before touring, but they sounded pretty good already. The set was built up well. No duds, just solid songs and instrumental interludes. And they closed with an absolute banger, where the vocals faded into the distortion before leaving the stage.
Ruby Haunt has a lineup similar to 65daysofstatic (3 guitar players, a drummer and a synth player), but their sound is more even, meaning you can just slip into a dream of a sonic landscape, resulting in many people swaying and nodding along. I’m pretty sure the synth player had his eyes closed for most of the set and I can’t blame him, it was very a great atmosphere.
Beside that, they also did killer reviews: Rotterdam, cool city, the venue: a good place. Yeah, I’m poking a little fun a bit, but the it was a nice place/the vibe was good. I agree with them. Rotterdam has been good to me this year and the venue, although it was my first time visiting, felt comfortable. All in all, it was a fine evening.
