Everyone’s eyes turned to Rex for the last rule, and he took a deep breath. This was it. This was really, finally happening. They’d fought an entire war, cleaned it up, and now here they were, on the other side, and still in mostly one piece. It was hard for him to believe that this was more than a dream to talk about when they were bored and horny between missions. This time it was for real.

The rain outside had eased to a light drizzle despite the dark clouds that loomed overhead. Rex took the break in the weather as a sign that this vacation was going to be just what they needed after everything they’d been through together.

“Rex?” Cody prompted, and it shook the former Captain out of his reverie. He scanned their expectant faces, and while all of them looked the same on the surface, they belonged to five very different, very beautiful men that he’d grown to love.

With a deep breath and a smile, Rex threw his hand in on top of the others.

“Rule number six, what happens on vacation, stays on vacation.”

(Anon who threw out the idea of Fex and Echody double dates) Here's another Cody/Echo headcannon- When Cody finds out that Echo is "dead", he tries distancing himself from everyone so he doesn't break down. When Rex tries talking to him to see if he's okay, Cody snaps at him.

I’m gonna call you the Echody Anon.

Ooooooo noooo. I mean yes, but nooooooo. Good headcanon, but ouuuuucccchhhh.

Poor Cody can’t handle losing his cyare at the citadel. Echo and Fives were the best at what they did, and losing Echo like that just hurts his souls down to the core. So yeah, when Echo dies and Rex tried to offer comfort to Cody, he snaps at him only to regret it immedietly. Echo was his cyare yes, but he was Rex’s close friend, and Fives’ brother-by-choice. All three of them are hurting. They pile up into Cody’s bed that night and just curl around each other, mourning the loss of Echo.

Cody/Echo; heart

“I didn’t believe Rex when he tried to convince me you were alive,” Cody says so softly that Echo thinks he might not have normally heard it without the enhancements given to him by the Techno Union. 

“Maybe I’m not,” he replies, and his hand clutches Cody’s in a poor attempt to stave off the wave of emotion that passes through him. “Maybe I don’t have a heart that beats anymore. I’m more machine than anything.”

“I don’t believe that for a second,” Cody hisses and pulls Echo into his chest. “I can feel your pulse under my fingers.”

ThatKanraGirl’s Clonecest Five Sentence Fics

So, I did this in another fandom I was in a few years ago, and it went over really well. Since I want to start getting in the habit of writing and posting everyday again, I thought this would be a fun activity to try out. 

It works like this: you send me a message to my ask box (not in the messenger; to get to the ask box, simply go to my url and type /ask at the end of it). In your message, include a pairing (since this is clonecest based, it has to be a clonecest pairing) and a word. Any word will do. From there, I will write a five sentence fic and post it.

You get the idea.

If you’re unsure if I’ll do a certain clonecest pairing, don’t hesitate to ask. Chances are I will, but if you want to be sure, I’m always available for questions.

4. Favorite (non-sexual) activity to do together?

Rex/Cody - It sounds cheesy, but they love just being around one another. Rex always has a way of making Cody laugh, even if he finds himself in a sour mood because of a mission. But the time they do get to spend together they enjoy just kicking back and watching stupid videos on their data pads together. They usually end up in a tangle of limbs in one of their beds. They’re both kind of lowkey like that. 

Cody/Echo - Echo is fascinated with history, as is Cody, so if they get the chance (and if the circumstances allow) they explore whatever city/town/village/etc. they’re in and just absorb as much information possible. Echo prefaces it by saying it’s for “record keeping” or “planetary study for future missions” but Cody knows better, and he doesn’t mind it, really, especially when Echo finds something that particularly interests him (usually art of some kind). The light in his eyes when that happens is just the best, and Cody can’t deny him that. 

Rex/Echo - Games. Rex is ever the strategist, and Echo is a master at ingenuity, so you’ll find them locked in heated games of dejarik where the 501st will keep a running tally and bets. Somehow, they’re always one off from each other, and they’ll use this to settle disagreements as well. 

11. Who always wants to take selfies with the other?

Rex/Cody - Neither of them were big fans of it until Ahsoka introduced Rex to the Star Wars equivalent of Snapchat. Now Rex loves taking selfies, especially ones where Cody is 10,000% done with his bullshit because it always makes the captions that much better. 

Cody/Echo - Echo, of course, and Cody reluctantly concedes because how can he say no to him when he’s so cute bouncing on his heels and getting excited? Sometimes he’s even rewarded a smooch on the cheek for his efforts, so all in all, worth it. 

Rex/Echo - Usually Echo, but Rex is a ham so he always poses, which gets his little Domino to laugh so the pic usually comes out blurry, but on the rare occasion it doesn’t, well, those are some of Rex’s favorite photos. Those are the ones that he gets printed and gets put in a little box he keeps with his spare blacks. 

47. Headcanon that stabs you in the feels.

Rex/Cody - Man. Okay. Rex is a natural blond that was born genetically “defective” but the Kaminoans keep him around for “testing” and he is basically tortured his entire time as a Cadet. Cue Cody, his best and only friend, trying to save him, and that’s how Cody gets his scar. They’re both reconditioned after their attempted escape, but somehow still manage to fall in love again. Big ouch. 

Cody/Echo - No one really knew about him and Echo, so when Echo met his demise in the Citadel, Cody was crushed. He had no one to turn to, and it wasn’t like he could go to Fives, who was also heavily mourning him. Cody cried himself to sleep for weeks, clinging to the remaining scent of Echo on his pillows before that faded away, too. 

Rex/Echo - When Rex finds Echo alive, he can’t bring himself to look at him. Echo thinks it’s because of all of the cybernetic parts and the change of his skin color, but in reality, it’s that Rex can’t forgive himself for not going back to make sure that he was really dead instead of leaving him there to be tortured by Seppies.

Your fellow Echody Anon is back! (One more Echody Headcannon I swear!) When Cody gets Echo back after thinking his been dead for so long, he gets kind of over protective of him. He and Echo even end up fighting over him wanting to leave with the bad batch.

I love this headcanon. I can just imagine Cody being overprotective of Echo, wanting his ARC trooper to be safe and supported. He doesn’t support Echo going on the mission to take out the droids, but he allows it, but when Echo decides to join the Bad Batch??? You bet there was yelling and begging and tears.

Eventually Cody tells Echo that he doesn’t agree with his decision, but he’ll support him. He’s loves his vod’ika after all and if joining the Bad Batch is going to make his vod’ika happy then he’ll support it. Cody tells Hunter to watch out for the ARC for him and immediately the Bad Batch fall in love with Echo now that the questions of the ARC’s loyalty is out of the way.
