despite their complicated past, lainey listens to his voice over the phone, wondering if they could ever be something again. nonetheless, lainey's quiet, words stewing in her mind as she tries to get something out, something that didn't hurt them --- hurt him, in fact. of course, some parts of her wants to play coy and ask him, but some parts of her wants to relive the moments they had in the past again, to pretend that they didn't go their own separate ways. "why do you think i'm calling?" she asks, her voice trembling, just slightly. god, why did it have to be so hard? it's barry, it should be easy to talk to him, however, it isn't. because all she can think about is the past; how she left, how he was left to pick up his own heart. / @echoedtouch​

to say the very least, erica is heavily distracted. nonetheless, she's hearing words from other people, but she doesn't know what to say. of course, she's focused on becoming a lawyer, something her mom had the chance to do, but didn't. deep down, she wants to make her mom proud, by doing something that they share. yelling at people, debating, being the one to have the last word in arguments, that good stuff. hearing geoff's words, allowing them to chime in like they were a song; a perfectly sung geoff schwartz song, she glances over at him with a soft smile, contemplating on what to tell him. whenever she looks at him, she can feel her heart pounding; that's how she knew that he was the one, through their ups and downs, everything. "i don't know, geoff. hopefully, soon." she tells him, with somewhat hopeful eyes, not wanting to make any hard promises, but she feels like this is something she has to do, to make herself proud. / @echoedtouch​
