Alex never knew how someone would react to his dog approaching them like that - for all he knew that poor guy could have been attacked by a dog previously. But when he saw the stranger kneeling to pay her positive attention, it took a little tension out of his shoulders. 

“She’s still only young, trying to make her realise that not everyone wants to play with her. I’m really sorry, though. I keep meaning to get a new leash, looks like this was the definite sign.” he replied, chuckling as he held up the broken item. “I’m Alex, by the way.”
