event 003. a night in paris masquerade ball

it’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays in amiens and with the promise of snow, the city of love, lights and good fortune is getting ready for their annual end of year ball. this year, it’s a special event that is sure to draw in a big crowd. not only will a portion of the proceeds go to support small businesses in amiens but the other portion will go into a scholarship fund for the daughters of aiden bardet. as a small town, the community has come together to create a night in paris at city hall complete with french music, an eifel tower in the garden, and delicious french cuisine. tickets are hot and are $150.00 each ! but hey, it’s for a good cause.  here is what a ticket will get you:

WHEN: the actual event, in real time will take place on tuesday,december 31st at 9:30 p.m. until January 1st 3:30 a.m. HOWEVER, for threading purposes, the event in rp time will begin friday,december 27th. (threads can be ongoing until January 3rd giving everyone enough time to participate/jump in) WHERE: city hall in amiens, louisiana. for aesthetic purposes, we have included photos under the cut. WHO’S INVITED: the whole city of amiens. everyone is encouraged to participate!

Lucia had scoffed at the invitation at first. A murder mystery? That was her job description. When she found out, however, that her newest target was attending the event, it seemed almost too good to be true. Lucia knew that a crowd was an assassin’s best friend and the fact that there would already be a ‘dead body’ in the room made the night too hard to resist. A second body could easily be a plot twist. 

The young woman sat at the bar now, dressed in a black dress and her signature Louboutins. Her role had merely been “wealthy attendee” and Lucia knew that part like that back of her hand. She was just about to take a sip of her drink when another person bumped into her and knocked it to the ground. “Watch it. Those are expensive.” She frowned. She wasn’t about to lose her cool over a drink.

PLOT DROP 002. - A new year, a new life

It’s the summer of 1999 and aiden bardet meets ayana holloway and her father. for decades now, club eclatant has been running under the holloway-bardet union and he knows that soon it’ll be ayanna who will be in charge, they embark on an incredible friendship that last them for what feels like an eternity. ayanna, as assumed, becomes the owner of club eclatant and aiden moves up the ranks in his own family business earning the title of ‘boss’. they work together because it’s not only tradition but it feels right. eclatant never felt so safe. 

sadly, amiens lost aiden bardet just weeks before the christmas season leaving behind a wife and two daughters. since then, it is his brother andrew bardet that takes over as the new interim boss. he was the underboss up until the death of his brother. a few weeks have passed and an investigation has been set up to find the one responsible for aiden’s murder on the eve of the end of the year ball at city hall, a tip is brought to the attention of the police department that changed the life many in amiens. 

there’s more than meets the eye about eclatant. the elusive tipper leaves messages throughout the day like small little puzzle pieces that didn’t quite fit together. when all arrows point to the famous club, the police decide to raid the establishment while everyone is at the ball. andrew bardet has stayed behind to check on some inventory and to welcome the stay of hyde bailey, father of joelle baily, one of the bardet’s advisers. the two men are enjoying a drink when they’re also tipped off; the police is coming, this is a code red. and as discussed in many meetings before, a plan is set into motion. hackers employed by the family wipe al the drives and below the club, there is nothing but empty conference rooms. no signs of criminal activity whatsoever. the police is too late. not only do they find no evidence, they also find two new bodies. hyde bailey and andrew bardet are dead. 

while everyone is dancing the night away, the tipper confesses to letting the police on wild goose chase and that they’re the person responsible for the death of aiden bardet. he is detained and held in custody for further questioning but now there are two more victims and no sense to make of it all. the police see it as a victory as the canary sings some more, naming aiden bardet as a mob boss and his brother as the second hand. hyde bailey had been wanted for plenty of criminal activity before and they all feel amiens can sleep in peace for once.

the war on the mafia is over. or so they think. there’s another evil that is rising. nothing like women scorned and while eclatant closes for a couple of days to fix any damages and restore stolen goods, the owner steps away from her involvement as a new group of organized crime is created. cordelia bardet is the wife of aiden bardert and she’s out for blood. welcome to your biggest nightmare. 

there is one thing for sure: there’s a mole out there who wants the poison extracted.

oof! that was a lot! just to make sense of things, in conclusion, aiden bardet was the mob boss who was killed during the mystery dinner and soon after during the end of year ball, andrew bardet and hyde bailey are murdered as well. who is responsible for the second string of murders? no one knows yet but just when the city thought they were safe from the poison, a new one is restored and it’s hungrier and angrier than ever. members, please give this a “like” so we know you have read it. the plot drop will begin as of january 1st, midnight. it will be known that there has been another murder at the club and everything will be unraveling shortly after. there will be some new positions opening up as well as the opportunity to change things around for your characters! so please plot away!

event 001. murder mystery party.

there has been significant downtime since club éclatant’s annual halloween bash went off without a hitch. the club has never known failure with its lavish, show-stopping parties, and the management team has been working day in and day out on planning the next big event. the thanksgiving holiday demands the club’s attention, as a buffer between halloween and christmas, and let’s face it --- an excuse to draw in that extra crowd and extra cash before the holiday season swallows them all. as is thanksgiving tradition, the feast will be spectacular, but a simple dinner and a show just doesn’t have quite the same kick ( get it? ) as a murder mystery theme does! a series of invitations are sent out around throughout the city of amiens, all containing details on their selected character roles and costuming suggestions --- staying true to the traditional old manor style of murder mystery parties. they are instructed to bring their invitation for admission, no exceptions.

there are three rounds to this murder mystery game. round one - cocktail hour will introduce the characters to one another. participants are encouraged to speak in character, utilizing the clue cards included with their invitations. round two - dinner is served will see the characters to their assigned seating at different tables throughout the club with yet another opportunity to mingle with one another. at this time, victims will be revealed as well as new clue cards with information meant to help form accusations against just who the criminal or criminals might be. it is most important during this round to build your suspicions and use information from other participants to make your final decisions, while the victims wander about in ‘ghost’ form --- wanting to be avenged. round three - just desserts will allow participants to make their accusations known, one at a time. solutions cards will be handed out directly, with all participant announcing their personal story resolutions and if or how they were involved in the murders. the murderers must confess at the end of the game.

event 002. 1920′s murder mystery dinner

no one does the holidays like éclatant and it’s a very well known fact. poinsettias and tinsel and lit pine trees adorn the famous establishment as people travel from different places to enjoy the holiday spectacular shows. after a successful murder mystery dinner rehearsal, the club is ready to open their doors for their annual interactive show. by now, everyone has received their red and gold invitations with exact instructions including their given character and the address to mallory’s costume store so that they can pick up their roaring twenties outfit for the night. mafia members and club employees are all invited and chosen citizens have received their golden ticket. each ticket grants patrons a chance to enter the 50/50 holiday raffle and a $150 gift card for local stores. as rehearsed, the rounds for the dinner remain the same and the dinner will end with the “murderer” confessing their crime. every time the lights go out in the club, a new person has been murdered until one person remains.

via submissions, you will receive the assigned “character” for your muses. as the game continues, we will announce the “death” of your assigned character in a tagged post. submissions  will be sent out throughout the day !
