Wash Your Bedding the Eco-Friendly Way
Earth Day has us all thinking of ways we can live greener and cleaner. For many households, tossing a load of laundry in to the machine is more than a once-a-day affair. So in the spirit of Earth Day, we've listed a few Eco-friendly tips when it comes to do doing your laundry.
1. CONTROL THAT TEMP: Tons of energy goes in to heating the water that is used for warm or hot washes. Our advice, wash cold, especially your duvet covers and shams. Hot washing may shrink your bedding or cause your bold prints to fade with time.
2. WASH FULL LOADS: Not only does this save water, but it will save you money. Go ahead and let your laundry basket fill up before pressing the start button.
3. SWITCH TO NATURAL DETERGENTS: Find those products that are chlorine bleach and dye-free. It's better for the environment and for anyone with sensitive skin.
4. PASS ON DRYER SHEETS: Many dry sheets brands contain the same questionable chemicals found in traditional detergents. Additionally, they are not recyclable. Go with an all natural alternative or none at all.
5. DRY CLOTHES THE OLD FASHIONED WAY: Hang your clothes to dry either inside or outside. We know it's not always the most time-efficient drying method, but it is definitely the most energy-efficient way to go about it. There really is nothing like a set of freshly washed and clothesline-dried sheets to curl up in after a long day.
We hope our Eco-friendly laundry tips help you live a little greener today and always!
