Umitron, a finalist of Japan’s Ministry of Environment’s Environmental Startup Award, makes a pitch about its technology and initiatives to achieve sustainable aquaculture.
Umitron K. K. (Location: Tokyo, Co-founder / CEO Ken Fujiwara, hereinafter UMITRON) had the opportunity to share more about its technology use for sustainable aquaculture as a finalist of the Environmental Startup Award. Newly established by the Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan in 2020, the awards aim to support startups to stimulate innovation in the environmental field.
On 17 March 2021, Umitron made a pitch to an audience of 200 people at the awards ceremony held together with the Green Startup Pitch and Conference. The company shared how its technology, a combination of IoT, AI, and satellite remote sensing products and services, has helped farmers manage their labor resources and optimize their feeding operations. Another focal point was 'UMI to SACHI', an initiative to generate more consumer awareness about the availability of sustainable seafood choices.
Feedback from the audience, which included government organizations, entrepreneurs, companies, and investors interested in innovation in the environmental field, was positive, and we received comments such as "Umitron’s unique technology and sustainability initiative centred around environmental protection and resource management are really important and exciting for the future of our oceans".
Umitron will continue to help the aquaculture industry move towards more sustainable farming operations via our feed optimization technology and satellite remote sensing data services. Via 'UMI to SACHI', we will keep encouraging consumers to choose more environmentally-friendly seafood choices.
We welcome organizations, farmers, retailers, restaurant chains, and consumers interested in our technology and sustainable seafood initiative to get in touch with us. Please do not hesitate to contact us at
