When thinking about our Econ Live project my partner Austin Wilmot (ID# 84717760) and I, Tyler Schiller (ID# 61898020), got talking about a lot of different options. We eventually diverged from econ talk and began to talk about our lives, and we started discussing our current dating situations. Then the thought came up, hey, why not make an econ love song? Austin and I both enjoyed music and Austin also said he has written poems in the past, so together we wrote this song. It’s maybe not economically accurate with the definitions that we give some of the keywords, but I hope it brings across that everything in our lives is related to economics, even love.
Lyrics:
Demand for her was too high
Couldn’t keep up with Supply
My heart was in a shortage
Tried to take some friend’s advice
But we couldn’t reach EQ price
Now in the Long-Run I’m lonely
They’ve got a Tax on love
Leaves me with Dead Weight Loss
For there isn’t love
Unless the two lines cross
Now I don’t want to start a Rivalry
Cause your love’s got Excludability
Yeah why is is so Scarce
I guess your love was too Competitive
Too many Barriers to Entry
Into your heart
They’ve got a Tax on love
Leaves me with Dead Weight Loss
For there isn’t love
Unless the two lines cross
Demand for her was too high
Couldn’t keep up with Supply
My heart was in a shortage
