Being part of the Danny Phantom phandom is so fun but also extremely frustrating because I (and perhaps a good chunk of us) am in a perpetual state of wishing that there was a perfect scenario in which we could get the continuation or reboot of the show we deserve (Phantom Planet does not exist in this imagine), where the character development is consistent, the darker aspects of the show are not shied away from, phandom ideas are incorporated, story arcs are carried to a satisfying end, and the storyline would not constantly contradict the previous framework laid out early in the show, all while knowing that realistically this could never happen and would in fact be a trainwreck so bad I would rather it not be picked up again at all if it were to fall into the hands of the original creator because not only does he go out of his way to exclude a huge portion of the DP fanbase (LGBTQ+, introverts, anyone who does not worship the very ground he walks on), but he is one of the main reasons that the original series began to develop an increasing amount of gaping holes and weaknesses nearing it’s end and to this day shows no signs of improvement should the series be rebooted or continued due to his continuing contradictions (”ghosts are actually monsters from another dimension????”) and insistence that DP be majority slapstick humor that scrapes only the very surface of potential that it has, and not the absolute phenomenon that it could be, and has been through the amazing world-building and effort done by fans to keep it alive, like how could someone have something so big in their hands and not make the bare minimum effort to even improve what has already been made instead of throwing out random ideas that don’t even flow with the original story, in this essay I will-
