Ed Glaser joins me to talk about a movie suspiciously similar to The Golden Child...but starring Cynthia Rothrock! #OldieButGoodie
The first issue of Fangoria Magazine from 1979 featured Godzilla on the cover as well as a celebration of its 25th Anniversary. There was also a poster included with the issue of the image on the cover.
This image is actually from the poster to the bizarre Luigi Cozzi produced version of Godzilla made in Italy. Ed Glaser covers this version better than I ever could on his series Deja View. Check it out below:
So Channel Awesome is burning down, with scandals and secrets having more or less tainted my late-teen memories, but I thought I’d want to share tiny yet sweet personal story. Its loosely related to the actual site, but rather some of its video producers. Like Ed Glaser. He’s done videos about rip-off films from outside US, some online show called Press Start Adventures and another show called Ninja the Mission Force, which has both @reallybradjones and @allisonpregler. It wasnt the best thing in the world, but I did like it. It was spoofing off Ninja movies and Godfrey Ho style editing. Better produced and written than anything Doug ever did.
But yeah, at the time I only saw Season 1 and my sister thought it would be nice to get both seasons and a bonus DVD (a copy of Ninja Empire) for me as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately they never came. Instead my sister got 3 DVD’s of “Introduction to mantis boxing” or something akin to that. Definitely not an Ed Glaser product.
So then, according to my sister, she tried to get in touch with Ed’s studio and apparently Ed himself responded to her! He had no idea how that mix-up happened, but he was really sorry and offered to sent replacements, free of charge. Nice guy Ed. I think thats how I spented my New Years eve, watching those DVD’s.
So yeah, not exactly gigantic story where everyone claps at the end, but its that little personal touch that made me and my sister appreciate Ed, the show and everyone else who worked on it. Worth checking out, its on Youtube. In retrospect it beats To Boldly Flee by miles even when it uses footage from something called Star Odyssey.
Clue 2 VCR Game - Phelan, Allison and Ed
The second VCR Clue game has the characters running to different hotels around the world. Will Phelan, Allison and Ed survive the silly VHS Clue movie/game?
